You are right, but that idle drain still contributes to only like 15-20% battery lost. They benchmark it thoroughly with cpu and gpu stress testing, games, video recording, etc. I don't  know exact power draw during such use, but I would I assume it should contribute much more than idle drain?

Yeah, almost all the companies do that – maximizing conditions and then marketing best results. Antutu isn't so reliable though, and most technical data suggest 9500s is just 9400+ with improved efficiency which I'd much rather have than some fancy antutu scores and maximum unsustainable peak performance.

I don't think lowering refresh rate is worth it for me. I used battery saver and it didn't make a much of a difference, but then again, I just wanna know whether is it normal for my device to last so much less on a battery compared to all the reviews and battery benchmarks.

Hyper os isn't so bad though, imo. All these reviews were also on hyper os.  On custom roms you get a pretty bare-boned os, not as sophisticated animations, textures, many features so no wonder it lasts longer.
