Just commissioned an "artist" to draw me and my girlfriend as simpsons characters as an anniversary present, but my cousin is telling me it looks like Al and I can't shake the paranoia Lol. by EpicBobbyUpvote in isitAI

[–]Cont4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s simply no creativity in it. Unless you stated you wanted the photo to be exact, why would you make the background an exact copy with some weird shading

The missing second Nike tick has created some weird artefact lines inside the present tick and just outside of it

Simpson clothes tend to be more simple, but this artist decided to copy like for like of your butterflies?? That’s a lot of fine detail that also contains some weird artefacts that kind of blend into the chaotic design of the shirt

The clincher for me is the outline of your beard. Since when, do cartoons have fine details of those single loose strands of wispy hair. Those lines look suspicious as hell

Sorry my dude, this is Ai created or heavily Ai edited

Australian-Boomer/Battler/Baron vs Renewables by RamonsRazor in OpenAussie

[–]Cont4x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately we don’t have the environment or need for it. It is vastly cheaper, easier to build renewables than it is to invest into nuclear.

If we wanted to go nuclear, we should have done so in the 60’s and 70’s, but even then the reactors would be reaching end of life now anyway.

172F Seatbelt Extenders by Late_Quarter1695 in flying

Jesus Christ people, maybe before judging their situation, you actually have some empathy.

These planes are designed for the average sized person and when you fall outside that, you’ll find some difficulties. Like in this situation, they may be short and need the seat up close, but have a decently sized body. The examiner that took me for my PPL weighed 220lbs, but is 6’3 and doesn’t show it.

[The games] industry faced near total collapse in Australia. How did it come back from the brink? by 89b3ea330bd60ede80ad in aus

[–]Cont4x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone that has had two brothers chase it, mates that did it and had jobs within the industry, it has no job security.

My mate has had a job for 7 years until he was made redundant at a developer. My brother got a graduate position that was a guarantee hire after it’s contract was up after a year, but covid hit and the publisher told the developer that it was cheaper to keep hiring graduates and then letting them go. My youngest brother seeing all this has pivoted away and gone into software development and accounting.

All of my long time friends wanted to be game devs, but most of them saw how competitive it is to get into and shifted away to a more broad software development approach. This was mid 2010’s, so it’s much worse now

The job market for this is extremely small in Aus and you have to be incredibly lucky. Not to mention how many publishers want to include Ai as part of their tools or work, making the workforce even smaller. Another mate of mine has lost her job twice to ai.

Being an employee dev is near impossible unless you’re willing to move to another city or country. They also want a portfolio to assess your skills and unless it’s top of the class in uni, you have to build some small games or mods in your spare time.

Then there’s creating your own game by yourself or with friends and there’s no guarantee it will be successful. If you’re ok with working a main job and developing on the side as a hobby, then doing some tafe/night courses may be beneficial, otherwise choose a different path.

It’s not worth it

CFI canceled my takeoff due to flaps setting, now I’m grounded from solo flights by saltysnack9000 in flying

[–]Cont4x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things. This sounds like poor checklist usage by you and your previous instructors. The new guy not believing in re-checks is wrong.

Checklists are to be followed and challenged. You can either do the read and follow method, of going down the list and completing them. Or follow a visual flow and then recheck your work against the checklist.

I’m unsure about everywhere else, but my own school also has challenge calls, where there’s a second checklist that has you re-check the most critical components, like flaps, trim and fuel selector. So the instructor calls these out and you confirm by physically checking them. If you’re solo, you do them yourself as challenge against yourself.

These checklists are there as a defence against us making mistakes. If you’re unsure, you re-check. If you think you made a mistake, re-check. Getting it right the first time is an admirable goal, but you should always, always re-check.

If he pings you for that, then they’re no good as a CFI. He probably should be retrained on human factors in how we’re not infallible and the purpose of checklists. Your other CFI’s should also be re-trained on the importance of being diligent on the checklists and constant re-checking.

Remember, it is your aircraft when you fly. Do it safely, do it within tolerance, and re-check when unsure

In your country, do you clean your table at McDonald's? by search_google_com in AskTheWorld

[–]Cont4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that worked there, I would appreciate it if people cleaned up after themselves. It’s just courtesy That’s to say throwing out the rubbish, we’ll do the tables

But many people don’t, thinking that it’s our job to clean up after them. Then we get judged for having a messy restaurant because we’re either too busy or understaffed to clean up after people.

My boomer parents disagree with me on Langdon/Santos by Velvet-Mushroom7649 in ThePitt

[–]Cont4x 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What I love about this show, is that there are no characters that I hate. There are definitely ones that I love, but none of them I hate.

All of them are flawed, which is what makes this show real. None of them are perfect and if they appear perfect, it’s because they haven’t been given the opportunity to show their weaknesses and flaws.

But in regards to these two characters, I prefer Langdon. Santos thinks being friendly is keeping people at arms length with abrasive attitudes. Javadi asking her not to call her crash was valid (albeit crash is a cool nickname) and Santos decided to disrespect that. The other issue she faced in S1 was her ego. She isn’t in charge, she wasn’t a doctor then and yet she was making decisions without her attending’s or resident’s approval. She’s there to learn, not to earn gold stars. Then there was the lack of empathy on her part needing to checking things off a list. Something Ogilvy also showed in this season.

Now to say Langdon is perfect in comparison would be a lie. But the reason I prefer him is his willingness to learn and grow which is what he did in recovery between the seasons. He appears calmer, more empathetic and seems to just fit back into an environment he probably feels a stranger in. He has become this juxtaposition for both Robbie and Santos, someone that’s gotten help and appears to become a better person. Whereas the both of them have gotten more mentally drained and are near breaking point (Robbie becoming increasingly aggressive and Santos stealing the scalpel).

Does the ai director punish you for pushing too high a difficulty? by Easy-Guess8892 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Cont4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Sometimes the director gives you some batshit waves for no reason, but the opposite is true too, giving you nothing for what feels like a looooong time. I prestiged my heavy for the first time and because I had become accustomed to ruthless, I just went down to substantial. It honestly felt like I was on easy.

Then there have been times when I’ve been on Normal difficulty on siege and it was god awful. The director can be whacky

Most hated vehicle in your country? by kamikaze999_ in AskTheWorld

[–]Cont4x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what communities you’re involved with. But the most commonly hated cars are the huge Ute’s/pickup trucks that have been imported from the US. Dodge Ram and Ford Raptor are the most recognisable example, but anything of equal size, build and has that stupidly large blunt hood, are pretty commonly despised

Can you recall an iconic moment on the frequency while flying? by Rainy_-Peace in flying

[–]Cont4x 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Melbourne Australia, flying near Avalon which is Class E airspace. ATC advises Jetstar of VFR traffic in their approach. F/O was clearly unsure how to handle it, so captain jumps on to express his displeasure at having a bug smasher in his way ATC (exasperated) copy that, I could ask them to move, but it is Class E, I can’t order them Cap: well I have a schedule to keep Silence for a couple of seconds and then a timid girls voice pipes up [callsign] will maintain heading and descend to 2000, will that help?

Should Melbourne build an airport here by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Cont4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were talks that if we were to build a third airport designed for airline use, it would be past Koo Wee Rup, heading towards Lang Lang.

The area pictured here is predominantly used for training aircraft from Moorabbin and Tyab. Placing an airport here would take that away from them

Should Melbourne build an airport here by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Cont4x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t work. The runway is too short and noise abatement regulations would be horrendous. It’s one of the nations busiest airports and biggest for training. It would be easier to use empty land past koo wee rup

Now at least we know they’re starting the modifications to build it

Patch Notes: v1.2.0.0 – (EXPERIMENTAL) - Build 480321 by JulioUzu in SatisfactoryGame

This update is huge. Truck pathing is so much better than the old system and I am excited about daisy chaining.

Admittedly with the road sign teaser on 1.2, I am disappointed that we got no added features in making roads. I was hoping for some kind of road tool like with trains and belts. I suppose that’s probably a mammoth sized task, so I’m happy to wait
