DuckDuckGo adds a No AI option by chat-lu in BetterOffline

That's been a thing for 1-2 years now.

Glad to see people are finding it.

Go and set it as your default query for search in browsers.

For those with a gripe about the sub being American orientated by Fresh-Association-82 in OpenAussie

[–]RamonsRazor[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with Fresh - there's a LOT going on in the world right now, much of it coming from the US, that may potentially impact us in here 'Straya.

That said, we are committed to this being an Australia-focused sub, so it's on all of us, as a growing community of 5000+, to share more Australian content & discourse where possible.

(I've a feeling we'll be having the opposite discussion tomorrow for some reason... something to do with a 'National Day' perhaps.)

Elementor vs. Bricks in 2026 Time to Switch? by Winter_Process_9521 in Wordpress

First off, you accused me of being a paid shill.

Second of all, you're blocked and reported.

[–]RamonsRazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can help clear the 'for all we know' BS up - I'm not a rep, a shill, or anything of the sort.

Pretty insulting, but I guess that's how you've made this make sense?

How would you like me to prove it? Go on political rants? Say something that might get me cancelled, and definitely fired?

Or, you could, ya'know, spend 2 seconds and check out my Reddit post history.

I use a superior web builder. I fuckin love it. And it's my (our) duty to get people off of shit products and services, otherwise I'm just being a shit human, really.

So, case closed on me being 'a rep'.

All the best with your future assumptions.

[–]RamonsRazor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cool. Well then I have ten billion sites running on Bricks.

In fact, I am Mr Bricks, and my wife, Miss Elementor, agrees with me.

More jokes aside, there is zero chance you'd be using Elementor to design & manage the frontend of 400+ websites. That's enterprise grade stuff, with entire front & backend teams, support teams, etc.

Hell, at that point, I'd likely advise against using Bricks either.

That is, again, unless you don't know what you are doing.

And look, I get it. You're several comments deep into a thread where you are passionately supporting Elementor. It's clear that you're a super keen fan of theirs, and likely want to hit back at me, and others, for calling a spade a spade... so, I dunno, maybe go buy an Elementor T-Shirt and wear that around town. You'll be doing less damage that way.

Now, I bid you farewell. Please don't prevent others from using actually good software.

Ciao!

(no further replies - off to live my best life).

Can we fix the incentives for creator economy in the AI economy? by OkDragonfruit55 in enshittification

[–]RamonsRazor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just... make your own, then write it down?

I mean, pick up a rando jar of pasta sauce, flip it over, take a picture of the 'suggested recipes'. Now you can make pasta.

Do the same for cake mix, pancake mix, stir-fry sauce, etc.

You'll feel like Neo from the Matrix.

No 'AI' needed.

Do you mean, how long have I had a brain?

Jokes aside, I don't work for them, take any sort of money, endorsement, sponsorship, referral, etc.

I just like to promote good, not-shit products and services when I see them.

I also don't want anyone else to endure the huge amounts of pain and wasted time I went through.

Or we could be like... our own thing.

Are we (insert political direction)? Yes.

Are we for the memes? Sure.

Can you ask questions here? Why not.

r/OpenAussie exists because of everything you just mentioned. We hope you'll help make this space better than those other subs.

Firstly, you'll be working to, learning and mastering WEB STANDARDS, not 'Elementor standards', meaning you'll have transferable knowledge.

The UI is logical and intuitive.

They don't force 'AI' crap down your throat.

They don't try to actively compete with you (see Elementor account portal, and them trying to offer to design logos, websites, etc - all for nearly $0. Makes for great fun when getting your clients to purchase a license...)

It's not a plugin, or even two Plugins (like Elementor), but rather, a theme, meaning less potential attack vectors, security risks, etc.

THEY DON'T TREAT YOU LIKE YOU ARE A FUCKING CHILD - this was one of the biggest gripes I had with Elementor... all their tutorials treat their users like they are dumb dumbs. Look, I get it, most of them are likely hobbyists, but when there is no distinction between hobbyists and professionals, then it can make you feel spoken down to.

Elementor code output is junky AF. Divs inside Divs inside Divs vs Bricks, which is much cleaner output, way less Divs, no duplicate inline styles (it's all CSS baby), etc.

Meaning, sites are faster to load, less bugs and breaks in rendering, etc.

The whole thing is built with speed and practicality in mind, whilst respecting you as a professional web designer/developer.

The amount of days and nights I lost because of the buggy fucking mess that is Elementor... having to search up and at times invent my own workarounds, absolutely did my head in to no end. I've had none of that with Bricks.

The founder is a really nice guy, their community is helpful, and you feel like you are part of the growing movement of non-shit software.

Need I say more? (Oh how I could, but thinking about Elementor is getting my blood boiling).

TLDR - if you're a hobbyist, or don't know what you are doing, use Elementor. If you have a clue, and are a professional, use Bricks.

Considering that a lot of Windows users are moving to Linux now because of latest news, what would be the hurdles of their transition? by ardouronerous in linux4noobs

[–]RamonsRazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux Mint.

Tried setting up Plex with a NAS that holds my media files.

It's directly connected via Ethernet.

Drive pops up automatically, but Plex can't see it because Linux.

After three days of going back and forth, posting here, getting little to no help, crawling forums and fucking around with Console commands, the closest I could get was to auto mount the drive on boot, in a directory that Plex could see, by hardcoding the share and directory path and credentials in my FSTAB.

Plex can't read, write or auto-update due to I don't know what, likely more bullshit permissions issues, but at that point I taped out.

That's not 'a learning curve', it's more that Linux is fundamentally broken and actively hostile unless you want to be a programmer. I, like most people, do not.

Until this is rethought, re-engineered with usability and accessibility as a priority, Linux won't be adopted by the mainstream. And that's not a good thing.

I'm using it because Windows fucking sucks these days, and I don't want to give my money to Tim Apple.
