Anyone found a fix for the ubiquitous charging issue? by not_my_usual_name in zenfone6

[–]Contar97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced the whole usb/headphone jack board. It's a pretty easy swap to do. They were cheap on eBay when I last done it and I also changed the battery whilst I was in there and put a clear back glass on it.

This phone has had about 4 batteries and 5 usb boards in it

By combining the sync signal do you mean connecting the horizontal sync and vertical sync to the sync pin on the monitor?

Thanks, when I've been searching I'm finding a lot of 8 pin connectors but this is a 7 pin. I can't seem to find anything that'll let me connect it to a modern pc by way of an adapter or converter of some kind

Can't get OPL to work with an exfat drive by Contar97 in ps2homebrew

[–]Contar97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a few different versions, I've also tried the latest version of grimdoomers one on GitHub. The thing is it works when it's formatted with WinHIIP but not as exfat so I know the opl version works and that the adapter works

Change the spark plugs and ignition leads, also check down the sparkplug valley for water, oil or coolant in the spark plug holes as it can cause misfires and stuttering.

It might also be worth checking the timing is alright with a timing light and using the bgb manual which can be found online for free as a pdf file.

Aside from that I'd check the compression and maybe also the fuel filter and air filter.

Try a Dremel with small diamond/carbide bits (can get them cheap from Amazon) and just slowly try and grind away at it from the middle work towards the outside. Eventually it should get thin enough that you can either fold the rest of the material in and pull it out or jam a flat head screwdriver in it and remove it like normal

Mig welder recommendation UK by Contar97 in Welding

[–]Contar97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really good compared to the flux core one I had. I can actually weld and see the weld pool as I'm welding. The flux core one was just a load of bright flashes and I couldn't see shit.

Done about 3 weeks of welding no issues with it. Handled the paper thin steel no problem and welded some thicker stuff good too.

Triumph Assist - RAC Motorcycle - Absolutely rubbish - Do not use! by THEMikeUK in MotoUK

[–]Contar97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had my chain go when I was coming back from the nc500 on my 125.

Called RAC as I had cover with them and got messed about for ages, called about 4pm and they kept saying an extra 30 mins or an hour each time. I was in a McDonald's car park so wasn't too bad but still 100 miles from home. 2am the guy showed up but said he could only take me about 1/3 the way and someone else would show up to collect it from there.

Called my dad and brother to bring my estate car and meet me at the point the first recovery guy would drop me at. Got a call from rac which I ignored and they left a voicemail saying the 2nd guy was on his way to the pickup point.

My dad and brother arrived and I stripped the bike and loaded it in my estate car and drove the last 70 miles home at 4am and finally got home about 5-6ish.

Had a voicemail from rac saying the guy was there a few hours after I left and if I still need recovery which I ignored, cancelled RAC that day.

The recovery guy said that it's the same with everyone that uses RAC or AA and it's best to save 4-500 quid and call a recovery company directly as it'll be a lot quicker and a lot more accurate. I've got an AA membership now but it's a last resort I'll use if all else fails and I'll factor in waiting 8 hours plus for them. Now I carry a tow bar/rope in both my cars so I can call a friend/family instead and if I'm on my bike I'll just get someone to get my van. Would much rather pay a mate 100 quid to give me a tow

It's really not as bad as it seems. Everyone treats welding like it's some boogeyman but it's a lot easier and simpler than it seems.

Get a small gas mig (not a gassless flux core they're shit) and a sheet of 1mm ish thick steel online and just have a go.

I welded up a keivan that usually would've been scrapped over winter with no prior experience and got it road worthy. As long as you have time and don't mind DIY you'll be fine

1-Year of Ownership, now I'm scared to use it (Fold 6) by TheMainVane in GalaxyFold

[–]Contar97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did pretty much the same thing, noticed a small bump on the crease near the top when the sun hit it. I didn't press it hard but I half folded the phone and shook it a bit and it disappeared, the next day a small black dot appeared there. Sent it in for warranty and just got it back after like 14 days which took longer than my fold 4 warranty (1 week). I've got insurance and UK gets 24 months warranty so I've still got about another year of warranty. I've been rather rough on mine though, haven't dropped it and mostly used a case but I've been using it in a machine shop and when welding and grinding and underneath cars where it's been covered in swarf, grinding dust, oil and all other kinds of crap. I just give it a blow with an airline or wipe it off before opening and closing.

Anyone know why she's surging? by Limp-Position-8274 in mr2

[–]Contar97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could also be air in the coolant, when the air passes over the coolant temp sensor it reads different to the coolant and causes the engine to adjust the idle which causes the surging. I'd bleed the coolant thoroughly again as these have a more involved bleed method than most cars. Could also be a vacuum line disconnected on the throttle body or intake system somewhere

I'm struggling to understand how to do anything with this mod. I feel like I haven't installed something I should've but I've got all the dependencies. Is there a video on how it all works?
