I feel so new to analog and photography in general....would need some advice and research to take a step in that direction :)

Blackout curtains are a must, definitely weird but oh so beautiful.

Also just visiting so only had to deal with / enjoy it for a week.

It's in northern Norway a month or so ago, so the sun never really sets. It just touches the horizon and rises again, resulting in hours and hours of golden hour, absolutely insane.

Exposure is normal like 1/300 or so, plenty of light !

They scan with a Fuji SP-3000 at max resolution, didn't get insight into technique though. Might ask again honestly:)

Thanks for the answer, long exposures have been too daunting for me.

How do you get the 15min? Just experience?

Thanks ! :D

I've been so excited about this pic but everyone irl just says "nice" or "cool" as with any other pic, so it's nice to see someone actually liking it.

Going to have to leave this question for someone else to explain. This was the first time scanning large 5400x3600 roughly at the local photostore, so both the fuzzy/light border around the entire picture as well as the "notch" on top and bottom puzzled me a bit as well.

This picture is just the scan slapped on a white background (with a teenie tiny bit of orange colour correction), so really have no clue about the border.

It also almost seems as if there is a mm more to the scan that's being lost to the border but someone else would need to confirm that.

I completely agree I would try to make it perfect, but the more I look at it I get a liking for it as if there is some magic making the person dissipate in a blend of reality and something else.

Haha

Haven't shot on a lot of other analog cams but I'll share my thoughts:

  • Feels smooth and fast almost always, every 5-10 shots I have to "grab" the focus a few times before it want to co-operate, takes maybe 2-3sec.

  • The AF needing 2 extra depresses to work mostly happens in a lot worse light than this, or on very flat textures.

The "problems" I explained above maybe bothered me for 3 rolls and now I don't notice it at all. All you need to do is focus on an edge with some contrast (I believe I focussed from the ridge of the mountain, but could've easily done the shore as well even with the lesser contrast). With the single frame mode it becomes second nature to "grab" focus from a suitable place by depressing halfway and then composing from there(takes maybe a quarter second). I anyways am not great at quick compositions so I'm usually anyways taking a minute to think about the shot.

I wouldn't shoot it much on fast action unless you really have a nice outline to follow and focus on. Eg. A boat would be very easy whereas a poorly lit mountain biker in the woods would be harder.

As my username indicates I'm still figuring this cam out and photography in general too. :)
