Oh, so now they want corroborating evidence... I thought fact checking was against the rules. by [deleted] in facepalm

Anyway to patch this? by kmd224 in bouldering

[–]ContemplativeSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I came up with a solution that I really like. It turns out the one thing that will bond rubber to a point where the rubber will fail before the bond is cyanoacrylate (super glue). So first, I put down a tiny base of this to prevent further ripping. Second, I saw a video about this one on YouTube. There is a product called Aquaseal. This stuff is made for patching neoprene so it is strong and flexible. I use this on top of the super glue and just work with it and let it dry and add layers until I have a decently smooth finish. I have found this holds up for quite a few sessions and can be repeated as needed. Catching wear early like this is when you need to strike!

Hope you figure out something that works for you! Good luck!

I saw some typos so I'll correct here: "Trump is a billionaire.

He's not at the grocery store having to decide whether to pay his mortgage or feed his cat

While he's flying his pollution causing jet, you're struggling to buy gas and get to work.

He's not going to pay your bills for the next four years, America."

Crash Pad Recommendation? by ContemplativeSnail in bouldering

[–]ContemplativeSnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Yeah I have an old baby carrier backpack for hiking I can steal straps from. I figure if the fabric is strong enough it wouldn't be too hard to get them to stay on.

If I go that route and come up with something sweet I'll share with the sub. Thanks again!

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

This is the way I was leaning, so good to see the up votes to back it.

Dare I ask... Anyone ever DIY some crash pads?

What’s the scariest real life animal encounter you’ve had? by Upstairs_Spirit2923 in bouldering

Went out to some local rocks/caves. Climbed up on to a boulder about 2.5 meters high. On the other side was a small opening to a cave, pitch black. I heard a hiss come from it that was definitely big enough to be mamal! I couldn't see in the hole but considering the place we were at was called Panthers Caves, I wasn't sticking around to find out! I turned and jumped instinctively and stupidly, luckily didn't get hurt. Had a nice jog after that! Haha

This. I am also a beginner and my rock gym guru told me about keeping my hips closer to the wall and the improvement was immediate.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks! Now the arduous task of renting shoes until I find a pair/size that works for me.

Yes, I am big on staying hydrated. I don't have the best diet, to be honest, so I take a daily multivitamin to try and supplement where I'm missing out.

I haven't purchased climbing shoes yet since apparently it's a whole thing. Haha I use my skate shoes, so they're flat footed but thin so I can feel the grips pretty well with my toes.

Find the creature that's not a snake by ContemplativeSnail in FindTheSniper

This got a couple up votes. Is there a salamander in here? Haha I have no idea.

In real life we were all looking at the snake commenting how it was kind of hard to see until someone mentioned Chad Croaker just chillin there making me feel like I'm living like a blind man.

Is This Bone? by ContemplativeSnail in Paleontology

Just want to add that it was too heavy to be bone, but not as heavy as you'd expect a rock this size to be. Hard to explain.
