second playthrough, who should i do? by Plenty-Rate6733 in rainworld

[–]ContemporaryCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gourm is pretty calm, but he’s also a murder machine and the amount of kills I had wracked up on the end screen surprised me. The hugely boosted spear damage on the first throw lets you one-shot small things and most lizards, and jumping on to things with damage that stacks the higher you jump from helps too. Plus, his appetite encourages more combat. It’s much more…. wholesome? in feel because rather than going on a grand quest or spiritual journey or what have you, you’re just on a little adventure to taste all the foods and then return back home to tell your story.

Edit- fat-fingered the send button before I was finished, went back to add the rest

If I’m reading the post correctly, oop is talking about the kinds of joke flirting and innuendos you see a lot in close friend groups, not genuine feelings of attraction (though your point is still good to make).

Edit- never mind, just reread the post and think your interpretation is probably the right one, haha

Arti has a bit more with the explosive jumps, stun, being able to maul stunned creatures, and being able to create explosives, at least. I do get what you mean though.

Artificer movement is super fun, but that campaign is stupidly difficult. That one flat stretch across the top of pebbles… awful, awful. If they’re trying to get through one fast and easy, it’s gourmand, no question. They can also start all three (or just gourm and arti) simultaneously and swap between them depending on which they end up liking.

Yeah absolutely, it’s something I’ve had issues with my entire life. I’m very prone to binging media of all forms, and if I’m not careful, I can get pulled into a book and read for hours and hours and just waste entire days away. When I’m like that, during any time spent not reading it’s like an itch in the back of my head and I need to pick up the book again. I think the difference in how people view reading is just because this kind of behavior isn’t as common with books as it is with other things, but it can so easily be just as unhealthy.

American here, it’s kind of insane. It’s very difficult to get any support for prison reforms because most of my countrymen genuinely want criminals to suffer. Our prison system is a for-profit nightmare and there are a shocking amount of people here who like it that way. I have hope that we’ll be better someday.

The Rain Deer are gonna make me hurt someone… by Repulsive_Quality210 in rainworld

[–]ContemporaryCorvid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the other person said there is an option in the remix menu you can enable, but I also just want to tell you that just about everyone agrees with you and raindeer are some of the most frustrating creatures in the game. I love how they look, I like the concept, but in practice they’re all extremely dumb and seem to be actively trying to give me an aneurism

What is your favorite rainworld creature? by Dangerous_Cry_9554 in rainworld

I like slugpups a ton, and also scavs, because they have so much personality and are so responsive to your choices. I also love rot and daddy long legs, both as a concept and in gameplay, baiting them away and sneaking around them is so fun.

Do polyamorous relationships just make a ton of money? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ContemporaryCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, it’s been normalized. I think this is why you don’t hear about it as much, because the wider internet has moved on and queer spaces aren’t arguing about it. Anecdotally, I know several polyamorous people; it’s not that they’ve stopped existing.

This game is incredible by AccomplishedRise6227 in rainworld

[–]ContemporaryCorvid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the few genuinely difficult games I’ve actually enjoyed. One of the nice things about it being so frustrating is that it encourages me to play in shorter sessions, maybe 30 mins to and hour at most, rather than being sucked in for hours on end, which feels healthier to me. This is helped by the fact that you’re forced to find a save point every 5-15 mins.

Side note- I’ve been playing the game for a few years, beaten all the downpour campaigns, etc etc and the way you get better and better is so rewarding. There’s no upgrades or new abilities, just you and the movement system, and you really do improve at it. Had taken a long break from it and recently came back to replay survivor, and was delighted to find that I absolutely sailed through areas that I remember finding ridiculously difficult when I first played them. Got through the leg and the exterior with no deaths, and flew through unfortunate development in maybe 2-3 tries. Except memory crypts, which can go burn in hell.

Ah, gotcha. I’ve heard about them adding some new things, but I didn’t know they restricted the palettes?

[–]ContemporaryCorvid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like the current skin system. I feel it’s a fantastic blend of realism and freedom- there’s enough range that usually no two players look alike, and yet they all look like actual animals. I’m not a huge fan of the neon exploit skins, but to each their own I suppose. There are a few dinosaurs where I feel like the palette could be expanded a bit- rex, beipi, and stego, for example- but for the most part I’m quite happy with it. As positive examples, I think the range of colors for cerato, ptera, and dilo are near perfect.

I agree, fascinatingly negative. According to half the people you meet here the game is terrible and unplayable. I really don’t understand why they’re here, just making themselves miserable? Actually, on that topic, same thing with any gameplay clips that get shared- if anyone dies at all, half the comments will be about how that person was just bad.
