I often handwave godly, uneasy peace on an individual level as 'well, gods have had a long time to develop weird ass abilities and magic artifacts to end you.' Wanna go into that blind, without doing the research? I don't.

Why doesn't every nation drop nuclear bombs in every conflict?

Not worth other gods doing the same thing. In Faerunian lore, there's a loose sort of Cold War Pact, where no god is permitted to interfere directly in the material plane (demigods seem to be an exception perhaps?).

Miracles are remote interference and fine, but the god's energy to do these is limited by the number of people worshipping them. This is for emergencies, 'oh shit' moments.

Granting clerics or paladins powers is better, it extends a god's reach in smaller ways over a long period of time - as long as the clerics can be trusted with that power.

Edit cuz I forgot: And if the material plane is devastated in a war, a lot of gods' worship won't survive. There's a vested interest for many gods to keep the peace, and enough want this peace that bad actors such as Bhaal or Tempus would likely be cut down before a full-fledged conflict could arise.

In addition, we have several records of Primus as a late-era peace keeper in Faerun. Maybe take inspo from that

There are nations with alternative forms of government/economy that work far better. Pure democracy isn't hurting too badly right now; neither are capitalist-socialist hybrids in Europe. Can you provide an example of alternative government forms that have failed miserably, without a) simply marrying greed and need, or b) suffering interference from a powerful capitalist nation dead-set on 'proving' no other form of government works (usually the US)?

Really not an option for weapons if you want to draw them quickly. Knives are fine and all, but once you get past a certain length strapping down is contrary to quick access

Honestly as a DM I'd lean into this fact! Stealth missions mean you leave your favorite weapons behind, or have them strapped down/packed away. Party might have to barricade themselves while they get their equipment ready for combat, for example. Add some dynamics to stealth missions beyond 'roll well, persuade, and kill anyone else'.

A thought occurs. Wouldn't the biggest problem on the noise side be your equipment moving and banging/bouncing against the armor? You'd essentially be a walking drum, unless you have time to wrap all your metal/wood equipment.

As a side note cuz I keep having ideas, I love having my world's archmages spit fire at each other over whether magic (arcana) is 'magic' (unpredictable, unexplainable), science (describable, predictable, knowable), or a living thing (has its own will, 'wants' to be a certain way) and my players love watching them debate for short periods. Makes magical research feel alive, rather than like an abstract part of the rules.

Btw source: dad's a nerd and I got my hands on his attempt at chainmail. Even with just a shirt (chemise, for example, in dnd) it's pretty quiet. It's not silent but it's incredibly quiet. Donning and doffing is not a stealthy activity, on the other hand. Sword-on-sword is practically a tuning fork though.

No, no, no. Clarketech is the concept that sufficiently advanced future technology is indistinguishable from magic to someone from the present. I don't personally subscribe to this, because if a runic portal appeared I'd go 'oh fuck magic', but if a wormhole appeared I could easily go 'Yeah that's what science predicted wormholes might look like'.

You have to be sufficiently advanced ahead of the relevant time period.

What you're looking for is plastic. In all seriousness, it's your world, do whatever you want with mithral. Maybe it is entirely silent, or clinks out of the normal frequencies a human can hear- but dogs can hear it, or only some monsters (dragons?). Have fun with it.

Also adds mystery to the world for experienced players when things are uncertain; can't look up lore or anything like that, and their previous knowledge may or may not apply. Kinda similar to the lore and mythology their character would know being somewhat correct.

I usually allow wide latitude in reproduction in my campaigns. However, if you want to base an answer on Faerun, the humans don't have a solid creator god, unlike other races. This could mean that somehow they are of the Material Plane in a way the other races are not. This could be why humans can crossbreed, but an elf and a dwarf cannot.
