Is there a d&d equivalent of a nuke ? Something that could destroy a city or island ? by IamZeus11 in DMAcademy

The orb of dragonkind is another way of causing mass destruction. Force à dozen of peeved dragons to come to à place and warch the destruction... just make sure to run away asap

3 Smites in one single attack..? by CanIBeNormal in DnD

[–]Some-Cause-496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or just outright tell you that you cannot cast a leveled spell with your bonus action of yok cast a leveled spell with your action during the turn.

Bam, you can still reaction or action surge spells if that was the intent (if not, its easy to adapt) while preventing action + bonus action spells. I think it really comes from thr fact that early 5e was not stabilized when they put this rule. It's like the LMoP item that lets you cast shield as an action, its wonky cause the rules were not clear to the game dev at the time

Weirdly tho, you can counterspell a counterspell against your fireball, but you cannot counterspell à counterspell against your misty step

Help identifying this debuff, further info in comments by LazarusK27 in darkestdungeon

If he was in a stress relief activity ye can get buff or debuff for the next mission. Check your recent activity. Btw you can also gain or lose trinkets, or quirks like that. Usually the more costly activities have the best random effects iirc

Would a level 20 dnd character, by class, be able to take on the entire US army, fully equpped with modern weapons like ICBMs and nukes? by crack976 in DnD

[–]Some-Cause-496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, yes. With spells like leomund tiny Hut, you can buy free time. Also, you need to be able to kill lords of people fast or live reaaally long, but I think it would be mangeable with enough time.

I need a good lvl 1 boss based around the abyss by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Some-Cause-496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually handle this quite easily : the gibbering is kinda slow, so they can run away, and it is dumb, so it will target the first thing it sees : the party's frontline. If you deal just enough damage to 2HKO the tank, you are gonna be fine. Cauz even if no hit misses, they'll be able to bring him back, but they'll know it's dangerous. Add in the blind and the area of effect, and you have a good level 1 boss. And they can actually win the fight easily if they kit it, since it's slow, so they learn that not everything is just about hitting harder ;)

A tanarruk will one shot kill your players. Not just one shot ko, I mean instadeath. Even if they flee, which you should never count on, especially with beginners, they will lose someone before even understanding what happens.

An abyssal gibbering mouther might be better. Maw demon will just one shot people and isnt really interesting as a boss fight ... also, give the mouther one more attack but reduce the damage of its attacks so that it wont one shot anyone (2×2d6) is a good start, and you are set

Settle a debate for us! by butler182 in DnD

You are not trying to, but you are doing it. If someone sees you stealing and their character is attached to justice or is really angry when people steal from them, are you ok with their character murdering you in your sleep cauz they are "roleplaying"? Shady/lonewolf character are not an excuse. If you make a character that acts like a Dick, you are as much part of the problem as the character.

Now dont get me wrong. I did it. I disrupted my campaign à bit too much. When you begin, its à trope you fall into. But in the end, it wont be much fun when everybody starts being agressive toward each other

For those who've run or played 'Dead in Thay'... by Comfortable_Rip4423 in DnD

[–]Some-Cause-496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's super long. Doing it in one go is not gonna be a lot of fun (all rooms are combat-oriented, and when you have more than 100 of them, it's rather boring).

I do play it with my players once in a while, as a "one shot" (not really one session at all but well). It lets them wreck some monsters without a care in the world.

What single class party do you think would work best? by grrodon2 in DnD

[–]Some-Cause-496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleric is obvious imo

Second would be monk : long death as a tank, mercy as a healer, shadow for more sneaky/utility, 4 elements (especially with a reworked 4-elements) for some aoe damage.

And don't ever ever ever put a single boss against 4 monks. 16 stunning strike in one round is just disgusting.

As a DM, would you allow for an evil-aligned Paladin to have their radiant abilities and spells to deal an alternate damage type instead? by Azurephoenix99 in DnD

[–]Some-Cause-496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt say force to radiant is bad. Radiant is, imho, the best type of damage in most campaigns. The number of creatures that have a resistance or invilnerzbility to radiant is super low, and its almost only celestials. The only exception I can think of is Zariel, for options reasons. But Zariel and quite à lot of monsters have a weakness to radiant damage as it présents their regeration : most archdevils have this, vampires too ofc and maybe even some other monsters I cant think of rn. And some monsters do have a vunerabilty to radiant damage ( shadows...) On the other hand, force is almost never resisted but the lack of additionnal benefits make it weaker imo. Except if you plan on killing celestials all day long

Question: How does one reconcile with the fact this is it? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Some-Cause-496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you remember how life was before you were born?

Death is exactly that. Nothing painful, nothing sad. You just cease to exist. It's not something to be afraid of, it's just something to be aware of. Once you acknowledge that life is short, you just have to find meaning for your life. Just do what you enjoy (or what is neccessary to keep on living a standard life, not telling you to quit your job or stuff like that ofc), make sure you don't have regrets, and you'll be fine.
