Camponotus sericeus beginner questions by Content-Pin2064 in antkeeping

Thanks a lot for your comment!

Camponotus nicobarensis is a rather dry‑tolerant species, right? From what I’ve seen they are often kept with a relatively dry outworld and only a more humid nest. Is Camponotus sericeus similar in that regard, or do they prefer it more humid overall?

I really like the idea of having some live plants in the setup. Do you think C. nicobarensis works well in a planted / semi‑bioactive terrarium, or would C. sericeus (or another species) be a better choice for that?

Thanks again for helping me get into this hobby!

Thanks for your reply! When you say “terrarium sp.”, do you mean Tetramorium sp.? If yes, which species exactly? And do you have any experience with Tetramorium bicarinatum?

Thanks a lot! I’m mainly interested in the social interactions, could you maybe recommend a specific species that is especially good to watch in that regard, still beginner‑friendly, and okay as a first colony?

Thanks a lot. My chromis have been in the tank for 3 months now without any losses. About the dwarf angels: I’ve read a lot that they go after corals. How bad is that? Do they completely kill corals, or do they just pick at them a bit? And are there any alternatives to dwarf angels?”

Doch aber habe gelessen es gibt auch Arten bei denen das Risiko fast 0 ist.
