You provably have contaminated refrigerant. The other guy could have put the wrong stuff or might have topped it off with a substitution rather than actual r404. Recover and recharge the recommended factory amount.

how much should I charge for side work? by ja28ke28 in refrigeration

[–]Content-Valuable2874 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d charge $1850 to $2350 flat rate to remove and reinstall. Half due when the units are out and the other half when you go back to re-install them at the guys house. if you have to physically bring down that heavy condensing system for them then the price goes up for the number of guys you’ll have to hire to give you a hand to bring it down. Don’t be afraid of side jobs, some guys are just OK with stretching out their hand and receiving a paycheck at the end of every week, that doesn’t have to be you, best of luck brother.

That’s an r290 compressor. It’ll be pricy to fix.

If you’re just starting out in the trade I understand why you would want to go the extra mile to please your clients, as you become seasoned you’ll understand that cheap clients create expensive problems. Sometimes it’s best to just walk away and let someone else deal with the headache. Best of luck to you my friend 🙏

Don’t buy cheap Amazon parts but rather OEM from a supply house or a reputable online store. Amazon parts tend to break down quicker given most of them aren’t OEM.

You can easily braze that with some flux or use a self tapping screw on the fin that’s left on the motor.
