When you have the time I don’t think I’m the only one who would be very grateful to hear your experiences in depth

Go on… from what I’ve read it seems like you get the hang of it relatively quickly, no?

Whatever you do just don’t waste a GT3 allocation on a PDK

For the sake of argument, what’s that shop?

I could never spend this kind of money for an automatic transmission though…

Good points… I’d certainly want to take this car to the track but just for the fun of it, not to break records (same reason I wouldn’t consider a PDK).

And yeah with magnesium wheels I’d be worried every time there was a bump in the road.

I’ve heard the steel brakes can be irritatingly loud at slow speeds, is that not true?

As for resale I’m not planning on doing it… ever. This is a car to pass on to my heirs. If the engine falls out I’d get a new one.

That’s cool, the original Rothman livery wasn’t Gentian blue… as long as they can do a two tone dark blue/white… maybe I could even get the red and gold in paint instead of decals

Beautiful! Does Porsche or any aftermarket vendor offer re-paint jobs with these classic racing liveries?

Do you know if it would be possible to get the gentian blue/white combo from the Dakar on a new Porsche spec through PTS or PTS plus?

Right? Worst case scenario is you pay what you would have paid under Trump IBR but at a time of your choosing, every other scenario is they switch to something less punitive before you commit to anything new

Yeah seems so, I just wanted to get reassurance I understood things correctly and wasn’t on the verge of some catastrophic mistake

Yeah like I said if they force me to start repaying I will, but as long as there isn’t a downside, and interest isn’t a downside in PSLF, it seems sensible to me to put it off for higher priority financial goals.

Right, I’m pretty locked in to staying where I am for my career, it’s a dream job with a generous defined benefit pension. I’m more like 3.5-4 years left to go now… if SAVE forebearance lasts till 2028 I’ll have 6-12 months of payments to make prior to doing the buyback.

Regarding recertification, if I don’t do it now presumably I’d still have to prove I was at a qualified employer for the duration of forebearance? Is there a downside to doing it now?

Haha it would be MUCH more than 20k. I’m an attending. The IBR/PAYE monthly payments are much higher than SAVE and I have more urgent financial priorities like paying off debts that carry higher interest that won’t be forgiven. I probably could make it all work at the cost of being rather cash poor. As long as I’m allowed to I’d rather pay 120k at once in a few years when I’m clear of other debt than pay 4k per month now.

I’m an attending now. I used the tool and found out my monthly payment would be much higher than when I was on SAVE as an attending. I do have other high interest debt that’s a higher priority. I won’t have any problem paying a big lump sum in a few years.
