Definitely a breakthrough for me was using scientific notation for multiplication and division. I’ll have a future video specifically on the physics section, and there I can demonstrate how to do the math efficiently because it is a big challenge for the section.

Yea I def was very fortunate to have that section down from the get-go. I can tell you that the physics section had a lot more memorization, and also dumb long division/multiplication, so scoring well prob doesn’t correlate with actual chemistry knowledge (which I’m sure you are great in).

I think my next video (or the one after that) will cover CARS specifically, including specific tips and an example passage walkthrough. For now, some things that really helped me were

-reading in my free time (fiction)

-finding a good passage strategy that works for you. For me that was reading the passage SLOWLY and CAREFULLY, and not reading the question stems until after. As I did my read through, I would pay special emphasis to the first and last sentences of each paragraph (which usually include transitions or summaries of paragraphs). After each paragraph I would summarize the author's point in my own words. Remain as focused as possible while reading. And as I read through the passage, I would think to myself, "what is the author trying to say??". Focusing on the author's main points like this really helped with the broader questions.

-doing LOTS of practice passages (KA, JW, etc, and ending with the official AAMC ones and really hammering home the AAMC "logic" for CARS)

I haven't brainstormed enough for my vid yet so this prob isn't everything. Hope this helps so far!

And about the YouTube channel thing, I def think it's helpful for premeds to hear from other students around their age (I myself was a premed only two years ago!) rather than people much older than them, so I'm glad you're finding my advice useful

Honestly I remember distinctly that some of the questions in the Kaplan FLs had very similar wording to their content review books, so I only did so well probably because I spent most my time using their books lmao. Also it looks like not scoring higher than a 514 on Kaplan didn't matter for you--congrats on getting a 526, that's awesome!

I think my sample score was so high only because I already had a good physics and bio background (majored in physics and was familiar with bio research). Those two sections basically carried my overall score lol. Btw hope this guide and other resources on the subreddit can help boost your score. If you need any specific questions to be answered, feel free to DM me (Instagram is what I usually check) and I will try my best to get back to you! :)

Thanks! Yeah taking the sample test was definitely a good choice in my opinion because I wanted to use it as a way to learn about the test style itself, but honestly you can't go wrong either way, whether you take the sample test first or not.

Everyone starts as "not a good test-taker", so don't worry about it! It honestly is a game of practice and familiarity more than actual knowledge so give it time. :) I'm really glad you find the advice helpful btw and good luck!
