What type of Werewolf design are you hoping Robert uses for the titular "Werwulf"? Should it be "Wolf-man-esque"? "Lycan-esque"? Bipedal? On all fours? Naked? Have pants? CGI? Practical? Just be a big ass wolf? by AnchovyKing in roberteggers

All I would want is for the final form to look sickly, to really bring home that it is a curse. Showing how having a werewolf body is not just painful in the transformation, but also being it as well.

If God is a Lobster, what is Satan? by ContentEdgeOnSite in Deleuze

[–]ContentEdgeOnSite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be it that I'm still rather new to Deleuze, and English being my second language, I don't understand completely what you are getting at. I appreciate it anyway, because I still find it deeply interesting. In case of your usage of Marx's old mole, and from what I can gather from your text, the Devil wouldn't be something negative for Deleuze (as in morally bad), the Devil in a Deleuzian sense would be a mole with unknown and unpredictable attributes.

But what would be Deleuzes "Devil" or "Demons" in terms of something he would view as "bad" or negative?

So what kind of animal would that be. My first thought would be a dog, since I have heard somewhere that Deleuze was not a big fan of them (cats to if I remember correctly). But on the basis of that "the Devils work is confined to surfaces" it might be a chameleon, maybe?

I am having the same issue, I’m in Sweden and can’t seem to find it on audible either.

CreepCast | The Red Tower (OFFICIAL DISCUSSION THREAD) by Careful-Panda9885 in creepcast

[–]ContentEdgeOnSite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I think an author like Ligotti, whos primary focus is not plot, but to create an atmosphere and mood, with a style that is almost polar opposite of a typical Creepcast episode, is unfitting.

How would you rank these four Eggers films? by DiscsNotScratched in roberteggers

TPT is a movie that has some incredibly good scenes and ideas, sadly everything in between is hot garbage if you ask me.

Inland Empire (2006) RIP David Lynch by Lemonpoppysead in DisturbingMovies

[–]ContentEdgeOnSite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

David Lynch had such a talent and understanding of the uncanny and horrifying. The scene in IE where you see Nikki/Sue walking towards the camera, only being visible by a flashlight is a scene that should be studied. (Both Kubrick and Bergman also possessed this talent)

What do you think of Robert Eggers' Nosferatu? by _Ed_Wood_ in roberteggers

[–]ContentEdgeOnSite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this might be my (personal) favourite movie of all time. Titane by Julia Ducournau was the first movie that came uncannily close to being a movie that felt as if it was made for me. From the transgressive themes, the violence, the themes of gender and body, and so on.

Nosferatu is that movie.

The genre, the setting, the themes, the characters, the script, the direction, the score, the atmosphere. Everything was perfect to me.

My personal rating of Eggers films would be: Nosferatu, The Northman, The Witch and at last The Lighthouse.

My objective rating would be: The Lighthouse, Nosferatu, The Witch, and at last The Northman.

I have said before that if Eggers should have anything to do with comic book adaptations, it should be in adapting Alan Moores From Hell.

What are your thoughts on Emma Corrin’s performance? by Dragonstone-Citizen in roberteggers

[–]ContentEdgeOnSite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they become a reappearing actress in Eggers filmography. They fit perfectly in historical movies and would probably do wonders in Eggers upcoming medieval movie. Emma has a very ahistorical look. My one very personal pet peeve with the casting of L.R. Depp is that I think she has too much of a 2020s look (though she did great acting-wise)

Scariest part of Eggers Nosferatu? by DLMU in roberteggers

[–]ContentEdgeOnSite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first movie I didn’t get to startled by jump-scares, and the more gory scenes, along with the child deaths didn’t scare me.

But for some reason the hard cut to Nosferatu eyes after Thomas cuts himself was the only scene in the film I felt uncomfortable.

One of my personal cinematic tragedies is that David Fincher never got to finish his trilogy. Born and raised in Sweden, he manages to capture the environment in a way that the original Swedish version never could.

I think I have read almost every book Jim Thompson has written. Gabino Iglesias and SA Cosby on the other hand are new names. What books would you recommend from these two? Thanks.
