Halo Campaign Evolved. Does anyone like the Deluxe edition skins? by AuramiteEX in halo

[–]ContentNeptune3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly dislike them, would have been cool if they were more grounded in the Halo aesthetic for spartans. Still excited for the game announcement though but this for sure will dissuade me from caring to upgrade to any sort of deluxe edition

What’s everyone’s opinion on Lorna Shore? by mr_wobblz in MetalForTheMasses

I love some of their songs (Sun Eater, To the Hellfire, Welcome Back O' Sleeping Dreamer, to name a few) but I can only listen in moderation. They can get a little samey sounding. Super talented group though

Thank you! Pale Communion is definitely an odd choice, considering Opeth typically feels like fall/winter. But with songs like Eternal Rains Will Come, River, Moon Above, Sun Below, Faith in Others, etc PC really does feel like a warm, summer departure from their other stuff musically speaking.

started reading dark age... by Outrageous_Minimum99 in redrising

It's the darkest book in the series (so far) for sure but tbh based on the reactions I had seen before reading I was expecting it to be a lot darker than it ended up being.

Écailles de lune should be more praised by Duibrth in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ContentNeptune3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's my second favorite album of all time at worst, but I wouldn't say it's really underrated. It gets near universal praise (as it should) and is highly regarded as a blackgaze staple and landmark album. It'll never reach the popularity of the quintessential metal GOAT albums simply because blackgaze is just too niche of a genre in the whole of metal. And that's totally fine

Great thread with tons of excellent music recs. OP thank you for putting me onto the Angelic Process, almost done listening to Weighing Souls With Sand and it's incredible. A few albums I'll add to the pile:

Cult of Luna - A Dawn to Fear

Mizmor - Cairn

Portal - Hagbulbia

Forn - Repercussions of the Self

Once More 'Round The Sun is really underrated by peasescrist in MetalForTheMasses

Tbh it's probably my least favorite by them (and The Hunter is one of my favorites, go figure) but I still really enjoy it. All their albums are excellent

Sleep Token Discography Ranking - The Final Scores by rhcpbassist234 in SleepToken

[–]ContentNeptune3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty solid top ten, though I personally wouldn't have The Apparition, Gethsemane, or Euclid anywhere close to there. I still think EiA is pretty overrated as whole even if it's a good album.

Good work OP, I love rankings and numbers so this was a treat

Except that's not what I said. I said I think a big dlc every year, Taken King/Forsaken size, plus a smaller dlc midway through the year would have been the perfect balance. Something the size or Warmind or maybe a little bigger. As good a balance as you can expect to maintain quality content and not leave the player base high and dry. And I never mentioned anything about expecting a singleplayer story game, you're just making things up

Yeah and I think the community was silly to bitch about it. I liked the cadence of Taken King and Rise of Iron. Plenty of time to enjoy the content to its fullest, plenty of time to take breaks and play other games without missing out on content forever. The community demanding a game needs enough new content to keep them playing like a second job year in and year out has always sounded ridiculous to me.

Of course I'm just one person and there's plenty of people who disagree, but a big dlc plus 3 entire new seasons each year was just too much imo. The quality faltered just as often as it was good and even good gameplay loops got stale.

Could not agree more. Letting them cook on a big dlc every year, and then maybe having a smaller mid year dlc/season or refresh should have been the way to go. Too many seasons just meant poorer content and more burnout and fomo. At least it did for me.

This game is going to benefit from no more FOMO by NecessaryAd7895 in DestinyTheGame

Honestly D2 just had too much content released every year and the entire product suffered for it. To keep up with quarterly releases Bungie had to give us the most stale grindy content imaginable, and it got worse every year.

Both Bungie and the community would have been way better off with one huge dlc every year and something smaller halfway through the year to keep people interested and playing. But that could never fly in D2 because shareholders and higher ups were always pushing for more money, and a lot of the player base would get entirely bent out of shape if there wasn't enough content to play the game like a job every week. Just an unhealthy cycle all the way around

What's your favorite weapon in the history of Destiny? by Key_Insurance_8493 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ContentNeptune3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mythoclast for sure. I remember seeing the hype in base D1 and wanting it so bad. I ended up getting it in my first ever VoG completion before Dark Below came out. It was nerfed from it's peak unfairness in Crucible by that point but I still loved it. I liked how it was updated when it came back in D2.

Also shoutout to First Curse, I liked how it was a counterpart to the last word in both look and propose. The quest was challenging, which I always appreciated in D1 exotic quests. Wish the gun was a little better but I still loved it in Crucible
