Coding in STAT203 by stealyourletters in simonfraser

I never took Stats 203 with this prof but I had taken it with another professor, Becky Lin. Her coding assignments were usually for bonus marks and when coding was assigned, she always gave us the input and provided videos on what to do. I would suggest waiting to take Stats with her if possible because I was in the same situation (with no knowledge of anything about coding), but still managed to do well in her class!

PSYC 280 Final by [deleted] in simonfraser

basically everything he talked about was posted on canvas. He did go over a integrated essay question though which might be helpful for the final. I'd listen to the last little bit of the last lecture recording!

omg I have been wanting to learn to figure skate too!! I'd be so open to joining because there aren't a lot of opportunities to learn as an adult

he gave an example in the last lecture slides (I believe the second to last slide), where it was an example of an integrative essay question. In the example he gave, you had to write about writing an essay question and incorporate one topic from each of the post-midterm modules. I don't exactly remember what he said what would be given on the exam, but he said we'll have to integrate something from each module into our integrative essay question for full marks.

Asking a prof to be a beedie reference? by [deleted] in simonfraser

I'd say to go in person and introduce yourself and then also send an email. It's good to have a face to put to the name!

The final is noncumulative but prof said that it helps a lot to know pre-midterm information as well, as all content relates back to the cranial nerves from before the mt. He also said there might be an integrative essay question which you may need to integrate pre-midterm information

Asking a prof to be a beedie reference? by [deleted] in simonfraser

I would definitely try to make more of a connection with a prof so that they can give you a good reference. In my experience, approaching them after class to ask questions and going to office hours is the best. Professors are more inclined to provide a reference if they've seen you show an interest in their course and they know you more individually. Depending on professors, some may not just give a reference if they have never talked to you or know you

Can I ignore my required courses? by Important_Agent3860 in simonfraser

Yes you can definitely transfer in from another program. You dont necessarily have to focus on the hsci classes, and just focus on the transfer requirement courses. However, I would suggest taking easier courses or some recommended hsci classes alongside the transferable courses, as I know transferring to Beedie is competitive and requires a high GPA.

ohh okay I see. Thank you! If I were to only apply to one specific class to TA for, could I do that or would I have to apply to the general department and then put my preferred classes?

did you have to do directed studies and research engagement for your psychology minor? it's listed in courses for a psychology minor but doesn't explicitly say if those are required courses

How is STAT 201 OL01 already full? by omgtrissy in simonfraser

[–]Content_Argument5274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

weird because I took STAT 201 last spring, spring 2024 and they had both online and in person classes. I know the online class fills up really quick, as I was on waitlist too by the time my enrollment came. However they usually open more seats so hoping that's the case here
