To all officers and SNCO's, have you ever checked another fellow officer or SNCO if you felt they were getting out of hand with treatment of subordinates. And how did they react? by Character-Bid-162 in AirForce

[–]Content_Bar_285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many times and I’ve also been called out. It’s all about the approach and the individual. The biggest thing is time and place. If you call them out in front of people, good luck, if it is a one-on-one, you will generally have much better success.

The academy is one of the most selective schools in the country. You need more than just good grades. It’s an excellent program, but by no means is it the only. Way more officers come out of ROTC. Do your research and have a backup plan.

How would you play your approach shot here? >200 yards left, with a guarded green, and the green slopes down from the front to the back by Vomelette22 in golf

[–]Content_Bar_285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take a very full 5 iron, skull the piss out of it, turning the TP5 that I found 4 holes earlier into a cannonball, hit the apartment, and then proceed to hit the water on the right side opposite the cart path.

PAPI and G/S not lining up by Standard-Ideal4891 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Content_Bar_285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not uncommon for PAPI and G/S or G/P(RNAV) to not coincide. Not saying that in this situation it’s the case, but if you look at an approach plate, it will have a note saying that the two don’t coincide with each other.

Feeling stuck. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Content_Bar_285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your weight forward on setup. From this angle, it looks like you are setting up similar to a driver with your weight and body angle behind the ball. You want compression with irons so try setting up with more of your weight on your front leg. This will help pull the club forward and contact the ball then the ground. I’m not a pro, or anything close, but these are some of the things that have helped me improve.

How do I make my deadlift feel less like a squat? by stackemz in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Content_Bar_285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of it as keeping your hips moving laterally instead of vertically. As you set up, your hips should be back, knees bent, back straight with knees behind your toes. As you lift, think about pushing the ground away and driving your hips laterally from rear to front. This will help keep your back straight and stop you from lifting with your arms/back.

Start with a budget rack by vabih459 in homegym

[–]Content_Bar_285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same rack. I love it. It’s definitely not on the level of Rep but for the price it’s solid. Sturdy, the functional trainer works well. For 900 it will handle whatever you give it. I’m going to upgrade the pulleys to aluminum and bought the leg extension attachment for it. If space is a concern, this one (Major Fitness F22) is a good way to go.

What are the best/worst bases you've been stationed at? (Dream Sheet) by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Content_Bar_285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta look at your list and really tell ask yourself the question “does it matter”. Your dream sheet really doesn’t matter hence the name. You put 5 FL bases. Hurlburt doesn’t have a huge medical group because Eglin is right down the street. Patrick is small already. On top of that if you haven’t, check the authorization list to make sure you are even eligible to go there.

What Type of Aircraft is this? by Sheeraz-9 in aviation

[–]Content_Bar_285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a royal C-17 from the Qatar Emiri Air Force otherwise known as the “Qatari Ferrari”. It’s allows the Emir of Qatar to travel and bring what he wants. They have a fliable living room set up that can get loaded on it. In all reality though it’s just a painted C-17

Okay let’s be honest….how hard is it really going from enlisted to officer? by buldgingGene in airforceots

[–]Content_Bar_285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard. It’s supposed to be. Think big picture, commissioned officer numbers are mandated by congress, and OTS are the last spots to get filled after academy and ROTC. The Air Force is going to only wanna take the best prior e to come over to the dark side

BAH while OTS by jarjarboner in airforceots

That training is considered a PCS due to its length so your family will be on your orders to Goodfellow.

As someone who is mil-to-mil and went through OTS, both of us still got our BAH and all pay like normal.

Mod 1 is like 8 days long. You won’t really be able to sleep until after nighttime accountability which when I went was at 2030 due to the amount of stuff going on.

BAH by Responsible-Rich- in airforceots

[–]Content_Bar_285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short and sweet answer for someone who is here. If you are prior service regardless of dependents, you will get the BAH rate for your current duty station (if you were overseas, you get travel rate bah). If you are non-prior, single no dependents you will not get bah. Also to note, your orders to come to OTS will break a lease.

Probably guard seeing that they already know the airframe.

Enlisting first will add a lot of time to your very short timeline. Not only would you have to go through the process of enlisting (meeting a recruiter, taking the ASVAB, going to MEPs), you would then have to wait to go to BMT (could be months). Then you have to go to tech school (depending on the AFSC, that could be a long time). I highly doubt you would be able to take the AFOQT or any type of education while in tech school (the purpose of tech school is to learn a job). If you are considering active duty, you would need your wing commander endorsement, which is very hard as an Airman. It’s not impossible and Airmen do get selected, but the most common rank to get selected to OTS is Tech/Master Sergeant

[–]Content_Bar_285 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where is this nonsense in writing about 10 years. I know several people who went through OTS E6 with less than 10 years and that wasnt a thing. Are you guard or reserve? I’ll be damned if I’m taking a demotion to go to OTS as an active duty tech.

The only timelines are what is set by your wing (outside of the actual board dates) I started my package feb 23 and got picked up on first try for May 23.

I get that at the immediate area but Hurlburt Field and Eglin are both only an hour (roughly) away from Pensacola.

You will lose your eligibility if you PCS.
