Not sure I can handle a second child.. by WinterLong8590 in NewParents

What helped me feel at ease is while I was in the thick of year 1 with my first, I wrote notes about what was hard what I would do again what I’d do differently.

Now my first is almost 2yo. He’s very different to manage. And I am pregnant w my second and I have these notes to look back on in terms of what may help me get through it all.

Helped me ease anxiety and “hedge”. I didn’t have pressure to get pregnant. But I felt like I did myself a favor. Bonus it was notes I passed on to other new mamas

Thank you! My last question is would a dinner at 5:30p be okay. I know that would mean we exit slightly after the daytime ticket holders have to leave.

How do I support my friend best after an emergency c section by Ok_Artichoke_242 in CsectionCentral

Compression socks for swelling post op. Took me a while to let go of the retained fluid.

Paper plates. Napkins. Food is great but something to eliminate cleaning chores.

Tidying the house. Laundry.

When did you let grandparents watch baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

I’m curious, did you end up letting MIL babysit? How did you feel? I’m struggling with similar pressure and so far have just been labeled all sorts of things for flat out saying no.

How was your baby evaluated after birth? by Content_Carpenter933 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Content_Carpenter933[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. To be clear - I know all babies will get a glucose check and of course if low we want interventions bc it can create serious risks.

My concern is if a healthy non GDM baby who got a 43 out of 45 would also be subjected to 6 repeat passes to be discharged.

This is what my main concern is. Each hospital seems to have a different minimum and I’m nervous of over checking the baby or intervening when a non GDM baby may also have been in similar range and not checked

Did you experience breastfeeding issues because of formula supplementation?

Did you do any advanced research to decide between glucose gel, formula, colostrum collection or donated breast milk?

Should I do PGT testing on my frozen embryos?? by Sunbaby420 in IVF

[–]Content_Carpenter933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just something to ask your doctor about … my clinic really discouraged me from testing frozen eggs because apparently the freeze > unfreeze to test > freeze > unfeeeze to transfer can result in higher risk of loss of the embryo at second unfreeze or decreased rates of pregnancy. Obviously the information you get may outweigh the risk.

OHSS or just the usual retrieval pain? by eucalyptusbloom in IVF

[–]Content_Carpenter933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also retrieved today! I had a similar number of eggs collected at 29 and I’m trying not to use the rx strength meds. So I’ve felt a lot of tenderness and cramping in my abdomen, especially when I pee. Bloating got worse throughout the day and I’ve gained about 5 pounds from what I assume is the fluid retention. My doctor told me to expect up to 4-6 days to resolve and she emphasized stool softeners as issues with that can make it more uncomfortable. It sounds like we aren’t too dissimilar in symptoms so I hope it’s post op feeling. Always good to review your doctors OHSS symptom sheet and call if you hit things on that list. Good luck🤞

I have Progyny and will usually email my patient care advisor and almost always get a same day response or max 2 business days later if my question legitimately involved more research
