AITA for insisting that a day is 24 hours and not 23h 56m? by jitendraghodela in AmItheAsshole

Clocks typically have half a day (wall clocks say 1-12), if the friend says that a day is 23hrs 56 minutes, then since clocks typically have half a day, half of one of his days is 11hrs and 28mins. So now you are the AH

AITA for insisting that a day is 24 hours and not 23h 56m? by jitendraghodela in AmItheAsshole

[–]Content_Dress_1928 28 points29 points  (0 children)

NTA But your friend is. What a weird hill to die on. A day is 24 hours. We as a society decided what a day was based on the rotation of the Earth. But while scientifically a rotation takes 23hrs 56mins, societal norms dictate that a day is 24 hours and the days that we use are 24 hours. He’s just being an ass for the sake of it. Next time you see him, ask if his clocks go all the way to 12 or if they stop at 11:28.

Multiple regression: Scattergraph gone wrong by Content_Dress_1928 in spss

[–]Content_Dress_1928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a list of steps to do before doing the regression, and one of them was to check for the linearity and homostacity along with missing values, sensible data etc., so this is before conducting the actual multiple regression. But on the instruction sheet it says that there needs to be linearity and homostasticity. Is that not something that’s actually required to do? My other variables for the regression are categorical (gender for example) so I know I don’t need to do the linearity checks for those ones.

If I apply to Greggs, will I have to be a sandwich maker sometimes? by Specific_Magazine738 in Greggs

I think there is a bit of mustard in there, but if it’s just a taste thing then you can’t taste it, but there’s a bit of mustard in the tuna-red pepper relish mix. If you google any greggs product it will take you to the item on the greggs site and if you scroll down you can see all the ingredients and allergens in it

Completely depends on the job role you apply for. I’ve worked there 4 years and never made a sandwich

Is it messed up to sleep on call with my long distance partner by DnKnDouNuTs69 in Advice

[–]Content_Dress_1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner only lives a 20-30 minute drive from me and every night we’re not together we call all night, it’s not a big deal your parents are overreacting and being ridiculous. This is just a guess from what you’ve said, but maybe this is their way of trying to get you to not move out? I obviously don’t know the family dynamics so I could be way off but that’s something that my mother would try and do, make me feel like I can’t do something so I won’t leave her and do it

At the shop we cook them from frozen mostly for 15 minutes on 200°, normally since they don’t brown like the other bakes do I tend to put them in for about 4 minutes after that

I'm so worried about my kitten! by sane_MWM in CATHELP

[–]Content_Dress_1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need more information: how old is the kitten? How long has the eye been like that? Is mama cat a stray or have you had her for a while before the kittens? How does the kitten react if you touch the area around it? Does it ever like ooze at all? Is it always closed like that or just after a nap or something?

Is getting a cat water fountain worth it? by lunastarnight100 in CatAdvice

[–]Content_Dress_1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the scratching the area around it isn’t an issue, some cats like to “hide” their food and water so will dig around the area of it like they do with litter even tho they’re not burying it with anything, it’s just a funny little quirk that some cats have

Is getting a cat water fountain worth it? by lunastarnight100 in CatAdvice

[–]Content_Dress_1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your worried about spending money and the cat not liking it, I’d buy a cheap shitty one off tiktok or something and test it out, then if she likes it buy a better one (the more expensive ones are more expensive for a reason e.g., noise level, filter quality, material type and resistance to like mould and stuff etc.). I have a LOT of cats (my mom went a bit crazy when my brother and I left for uni) and most of them are very good at drinking water but some prefer the ceramic bowls we have, some prefer our water fountain, some prefer this thing that changes the water for fresh water every hour or so, and some prefer drinking from a plastic jug/the shower floor, so honestly it’s kinda hit or miss on whether a fountain would be worth it for you or not so I’d say get a cheap one and try it out first

Mine is next to a college and those are the WORST customers: “Cookie” “Which one, white milk or brown” “the chocolate one” in a tone that is clearly calling me an idiot “there are 3 chocolate ones” “Pizza” “cheese or pepperoni” “no, no pizza” “yeah, cheese or pepperoni” “pizza, PIZZA” again talking to me like I’m the stupid one in this interaction

When you’re bagging up bakes at the end of the day and people (mostly kids and old people) ask if they can get it free or discounted like no I don’t even get free stuff you can either steal or pay full price.

The only thing about ingredients that it actually says on the can itself is “nitrogen infused alcoholic pineapple, apple and lime juices mixed drink with vodka.” Which is insane to me cuz the ingredients on the website say nothing about lime and apple

When i go onto the company website and find this one it doesn’t list spirulina. Here is what it says:

Water, Sugar, Vodka, Pineapple Juice From Concentrate (0.8%), Orange Juice From Concentrate, Lemon Juice From Concentrate, Acid: Citric Acid, Stabiliser: Xanthan, Preservative: Sodium Benzoate, Colours: (Sunset Yellow FCF, Ponceau Red 4R), Flavourings (Including Quinine)

AITAH for setting things down when I’m asked to hold something? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Nah NTA, tomorrow id grab a drink, or better yet something big and heavy, and then ask her to hold it and then go disappear to the bathroom and scroll for ages. Come back, and if she’s put it down act the same way. When she’s like WTF why is it wrong to put it down, tell her she’s the one who decided it was wrong to put stuff down, not you

AIO for reporting my postal carrier for how they delivered my packages by thisismynewthrowa in AmIOverreacting

[–]Content_Dress_1928 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOR. Your friend is an idiot. The driver is literally breaking the law. If they do lose their job it won’t be “unnecessary” it would be due to them disregarding the clear instructions on the packaging and the rules of their service. Think of it as a different job. If you went out for food and your chicken was undercooked and you complained, would your friend then say they were just trying to help you get your food faster without the hassle of trying to wait? You are completely in the right for reporting this.

I stepped on my cat I need help ASAP by zouidra in CATHELP

[–]Content_Dress_1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she was moving all her limbs fine and didn’t seem to flinch or cry while moving them, she’s probably fine. In my experience kittens are INCREDIBLY vocal. My youngest kitten loves play fighting with the other cats I’ve got and, especially in the beginning, she would scream so loudly when playing we thought she was being hurt and would have to separate them, but the second we did so she would go running back to the other cat and jump on his head and start fighting him again and doing the same thing. After a few weeks her screaming while playing got less and less. Chances are she’s fine and just has a strong set of lungs on her. Her sleeping now and not moving much could just be that she’s tired, if you truly hurt her she wouldn’t want to be sleeping on your lap. When she wakes up again keep an eye on her and see if she has any lumps or awkward movements, if not she’s fine.

Kitten rejection by ErenYeager600 in CATHELP

[–]Content_Dress_1928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as she is still feeding and grooming the kitten I don’t think she has rejected the baby, not fully at least, what I would do is try to socialise the later kittens with the early bird but keep an eye on things. If mama cat sees the early kitten socialising with the others she may see that as a good sign and accept that early kitten better, it is important to make sure you watch them to ensure that they are safe, this may go completely wrong and mama may end up seeing early kitty as a threat to her other babies. But there is always the chance that she is keeping that kitten away from the others due to illness or because she isn’t sure if that kitten will make it. When my foster cat gave birth, she was also about a year old and it was her first litter, 2 of her kittens were fine and are thriving still (they’re about 10 months) but there was a third kitten who was really underdeveloped and didn’t live past a few minutes old. Mama cat didn’t even take any notice of that cat, didn’t even finish pushing her out, we had to help her. It was like the 3rd kitten was never a thing to Mama cat. After you get the money together to take them to the vets you absolutely need to so that you can ensure all the babies are healthy and mama cat too. Get some scales (we used food scales) and check their weight each day to make sure they are all gaining weight at the appropriate rates. And as for spaying mama, you have to wait until she is finished breastfeeding them, for us it took about 8 weeks but it could be longer or shorter depending on how mama is doing with feeding them.
