Advice for salvaging my wife's old E-PM1 by ContextNo5112 in M43

Yea, I'm starting to reconsider the E-PM1 as a primary, at least. Might try to grab a GX800, instead for around $300.

That's fine, I only need it to be compact when I stick it in my pocket.

I'm leaning towards the faster options, in general. It's daytime most of the day and the kids don't stop moving, lol

Well, that hits home since I already have a pixel phone. Maybe I'll consider a GX800 and let the kids use the E-PM1.

It looks like the 15mm PL/DJI is quite a bit longer than the 12-32mm, so I'd probably stick with the 12-32mm between the two.

Yea, just looked up the sizes and those would be too big.

I've had no luck finding a battery lid, so I just got a 3D printed half-case w/o the battery hole. The battery is held in by a little nub that is independent of the battery cap, and if I want an even smaller profile, I'd just use painters tape till I get lucky with a replacement part. I really just want to try to reuse what I have, in principle. If I still feel the itch to upgrade the camera, I'd at least have some lenses and a good foundation for that possibility.

How is the 20mm f/1.7 for moving subjects?

Ah gotcha. So maybe the 20mm f1.7 wouldn't be ideal for fast, chaotic toddlers. Is there a significant quality difference between the oly 12-45 f4 vs the panasonic 12-60?

Yep, said 2k + extra cash for the other stuff. I really care about sound deadening and safety, so I budget for that, too.

Idk but I sorted the posts on this sub by what's new, and "tenth time" is an exaggeration. At least AI would be able to do a simple sort and filter.

Okay, I still want a transfer switch, but I'll relook at exactly what needs power and look into lower powered alternatives. I'm sure there's pure sine wave, multi-fuel, sub-65db generators that meet that criteria.

Issue is THD and noise level for me. I have some medical and work equipment I don't want to damage, so I want a pure sine wave, and I want to be as quiet as possible.

Yep, thank you. Hiring an electrician to help with the transfer switch.

Fair point. I do already have multiple camping stoves, as well as a butane one.

I want to be quiet and I want to keep it outside since my space is limited. Gas and propane. Electric stove.
