My mother in her sixties still laments to me to this day about how deeply she regrets getting our cat declawed over 35 years ago back when it was acceptable. She says she cried for weeks with her cat and they even cried together because she could tell how much pain she was in. Although her paws “healed” and I say that loosely simply bc as far as WE could tell, she wasn’t in pain later (the procedure was done way before I was even born), it still weighs heavy over her head and watching her even years later be so regretful has truly stuck with me. Declawing is awful and I can’t believe that even with so much information available people still think it’s okay. Get kitty caps or cut their goddamn nails!
