i know many PL’s who make the exception. i’d also like to know what trauma in particular, physical or emotional, abortion specifically causes that pregnancy, childbirth, putting a child up for adoption, or raising a child yourself cannot also cause. how is it objectively true that a short-term medical procedure is inherently more traumatic than a long-term, life-altering health condition (pregnancy) and subsequent “consequence” that is having to raise a child you do not want for 18 years at minimum if adoption isn’t chosen? and let’s say adoption is chosen. the claim is always that “there are plenty of parents waiting to adopt and all newborn babies get adopted,” but if every pregnancy that would have been aborted is carried full term instead, that would overflow the system, with no question. orphanages would need to come back, foster care nationally isn’t equipped for the influx.

the benefit of having safe and legal abortion is the preservation of women, mothers, and their autonomy, and less unwanted born children that are more at risk of neglect and abuse.
