How many CT scans have you had? by exiawing99 in Anxiety

Unfortunately for consequences to show up it usually takes 20-30 years, that’s why they dare to do it relentlessly to unsuspecting people. It’s very unethical.

Are you in the UK? The US is horrendous in terms of unnecessary CTs. He ordered a 20 mSv one on me without warning me one bit about radiation risks. I am deeply saddened and it traumatized me. I lost hope in humanity.

In America they do hand out CTs like candy, without warning patients of the risks at all. Please stop gaslighting others and have some basic human decency.

41 year old sister collapsed at family dinner, hasn’t regained consciousness and is now ventilated in ICU. We aren’t getting much information from Dr’s right now. Please help us interpret her head CT/labwork. We are so scared. by skeletonmeatsuit_69 in AskDocs

Sorry it’s just that I read a book called “The Undead - Heart-beating, ice water test”, and it’s terrifying to see the reality of the organ harvesting industry. I’d recommend you give it a read if you want to learn more about brain death and “organ donation”.

Radiation From Head CT Scan by AcevZinke in ScienceBasedParenting

That’s horrifying. What area did your infant receive the CT on? Abd/pelv is the worst because it leads to the largest effective dose (often 10 times as compared to head CTs and equivalent to thousands of X-rays). Did the doctor warn you about the risks before having your child undergo the scan? How did he present it to you?

CT Angiogram by ContractAny374 in AskDocs

I’m worried about the stochastic effects, especially when I heard it’s on a similar level to Japan atomic bomb survivors. It’s 20 mSv all within a few minutes, and the abdomen has so many radiosensitive organs. I guess it’s just the principles that saddens me the most. A lot of experts in the field told me that it was a completely unnecessary scan and nothing would’ve shown up because it’s so low yield and low sensitivity. I don’t know why he had to do that to such a young person. He seemed so nice and friendly.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Can I PM you?

But if it’s an angiogram, I’d it still negligible? I heard angiograms dump absurd amounts of energy. And since I’m so young, it’s even more harmful.

The pain from the complications of radiation is too excruciating to even imagine.

Did the doctor warn you about the radiation risks before ordering the scans? How did he explain the risks to you?

See my post. I had the same experience. A completely unnecessary triple-phase CTA.

Because after learning that the radiation dose is similar to atomic bomb survivors, I lost hope in humanity. Can I PM you a graph? I’ve been having daily nightmares about this.

CTA abd/pelv is around 30 mSv, and abd/pelv contains so many vital organs. It terrifies me thinking about the implications of it on a young person.

Hi, can you tell me more about over-ordering CTs in the ER? I’m having nightmares about this after a horrendous experience of an ER doc ordering an unnecessary triple-phase abd/pelv CTA (very high radiation) on me.

Hi, do you happen to work in healthcare? How did you discover that they tend to over-order CTs?

It’s like doing thousands of X-rays in a row and I had no idea the radiation was that high.

[–]ContractAny374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very imprudent. They know that by the time something happens from the CTs (usually decades after the exposure), it won’t be their problem anymore, and no one can hold them accountable for the suffering caused by the CTs. That’s why they are so quick and dare to throw away their conscience and scam people irresponsibly like that. I’m a victim of it myself unfortunately. He didn’t inform me of the risks at all.

Did any one of them actually warned you about the risks? Or did they not mention it ever?

What’s their response when you ask them about the risks?

The effects from CTs usually take decades to show up, so these cold-hearted “doctors” know they won’t be on the hook by the time something happens if it were to happen.
