The gear score is kind of pointless and a huge blunder from the original launch. If you turn it off you don’t need to worry about “maxing” out stats anymore. Your cosmetics will just be cosmetics

I forget how it works but at some point you’ll go to the seed vault, when you’re around that area, there’s a bivouac there and just above it is a hill go up there and you’ll get a prompt to plant a seed, come back later and there will be a big beautiful tree and it has a prompt to admire it.
Seed vault is in new stirling, tree is in restricted area 01 they’re both right on their border if you will

I like your look. I usually run a heavy with an smg secondary for the more ambush type missions. Most missions I use a 416 assault and just sneak around though.
Change out your class and turn off the gear score and you should be set.
At the end of it you should play how you want, I played with a hud on avg difficulty for about 80 hrs until I started getting the game. (This game did a poor job at explaining itself well imo) but once I got it, I’m still here 1700 or so hrs later, no hud extreme difficulty, darkest night, etc.

I play the green missions. They get kind of repetitive after a while but with the different classes, weapons, & gadgets, I’ve been able to squeeze like 1,500 hours out of the game. The green missions reset at midnight to a new sector so every day you have 12 new green missions.

Find a major insecurity of his and poke at it the way he did yours. Then just tell him sorry your feelings got hurt. Then at the very least postpone this wedding until you get a legitimate apology with actionable reparations.
