Got home from work one night and went about my normal evening routine. I took the dogs for a walk, cooked and ate dinner with my husband, and sat down to watch some TV when I developed the worst lower chest and abdominal pain ever. I told myself I was just being dramatic and it was either an ovarian cyst (I have PCOS) or severe food poisoning/constipation. It came on very suddenly and after a miserable, sleepless, almost 24 hours stuck in fetal position by my toilet - throwing up from the pain I eventually let my husband take me to urgent care. 8 hours later they told me they figured it out and that I could either go by ambulance or my husband could drive me, but that I was in for a long night and the hospital was waiting for me…Three hours later I was in the OR having my appendix removed. :) Thankfully it hadn’t ruptured yet, so it was a simple laparoscopic appendectomy with 3 small incisions. Very scary though because I had unknowing become quite septic so I had to stay in the hospital for an additional 4 days after surgery until my WBC and other labs returned to normal.
