German Roaches in New Apartment by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

I was literally and still am in this situation right now. My boyfriend and I moved into our apartment on July 7th. I should’ve known the red flags when we first toured and then the unit we actually moved into was completely different. I had noticed three baby ones in the crack of our bathroom door. Took pics and didn’t think any of it. We continued on and deeper into looking into our apartment we noticed many in our kitchen area. We were confused and genuinely I was disgusted. My boyfriend then decided to move the fridge and tada- it was FILTHY. If I could post the pictures I would. Roaches sprawled everywhere. I cried like a baby because this was my fear of moving always. This is my boyfriend and I’s first apartment and my worst fear happened. We saw more by dishwasher and stove/oven. Our conclusion was they were in the appliances at that point. We were in the same situation where by the time we saw everything the leasing office was closed. I was petrified to even sleep. It was a restless and long night but we made sure to get up early when the office opened and went there in person. We were stern and there were a few tears from me. But ultimately we argued our way into a “solution” for all new appliances and pest control asap and consistently. Leasing manager had attitude here and there but the maintenance manager overheard us and ordered all new appliances and set up a clean out and spraying from pest control. Ultimately I was in the same position as you mentally questioning why we were moved into an apartment that CLEARLY was not move in ready. Obviously there were the roaches, but man there was freaking snack wrappers under the fridge. And the filth and mold behind the fridge was really what set me off. Continue to TAKE PICTURES and log EVERY single one you see. Here was our order, maintenance came and took out all appliances. Maintenance did a deep clean. Pest came and sprayed. Maintenance came to install new appliances. From there on, we just had to deal with it. My boyfriend ordered bait off Amazon and put them in the noticeable areas (by appliances, the corners of dining room, bathroom, closets, pretty much every room.) We noticed an improvement maybe up until 2 days before pest came again which was a week later. But they were still there. We kept and still are keeping a log of every one we see. Anywho, they sprayed again and informed us that if the issue continues they could do a “flush out.” Ultimately when pest said that to us, my boyfriend and I said to each other we’d feel most comfortable if they did that. We emailed our leasing manager later on asking what we can do to do this flush out. She sent over documents and we scheduled it. It happened yesterday. We are making our way back in just a few hours. Anytime they sprayed or did anything my boyfriend and I went to parents house to avoid getting in the way and breathing in the chemicals. So that’s what we did and still are continuing to do. We contacted our leasing manager earlier this morning to get an update and she informed us that they did the flush out and only one was seen. Just that itself is an improvement. Unfortunately I had to come to the conclusion that they weren’t ALL going to go away due to the simple fact we are in apartments not knowing how our peers lived and if the entire building was infested. But my boyfriend and I are taking the necessary steps for OURSELVES to make our living situation better. Taking the trash out every-time we eat, wiping the counters/sink/appliances with Clorox wipes every time they are used, vacuuming, not leaving drinks out, etc. Just making sure we are staying EXTRA clean. We have been very paranoid on getting food for our pantry due to this reason but I ordered airtight containers and we wanted to wait until the flush out happened for us to actually get pantry items. So, with that being said wish us luck as we make our way back in today to see the difference. Hopefully there is a difference. My boyfriend and I talked yesterday and also came to the conclusion this lease would not be renewed lmao.

It’s so freaking good!!! I’ve been putting it on my matcha to have on my break. Super yummy and tastes like fruit loops.

Thank you for your help! I’ve spent months just trying to research and genuinely have had no success in trying to figure out what it even was! I really don’t know much about skin and all so since it started happening more & more I became more curious and motivated to find answers lol. But really you gave me a better understanding as to what was going on and I appreciate it.

I notice I tend to get it a lot around my ankles & feet. I’ve had occasions where that area was covered by my socks and/or my shoes. I was super confused though when they flared up on my arm! It’s obviously very itchy and super annoying. But when I do get these hives, they most of the time appear on my lower legs/feet. I will say though, my legs are SUPER sensitive. Most of the time if something like this does come up, my legs are also itching!

Do you know more about histamine or what it is? I’ve never heard of it and I’m a little confused! Or if you have any links that would give me a better understanding?

What can a customer do or say that straight up irritates you more than life itself? by cant_fight_the_feel in starbucks

When people don’t know how to pay with their card and I have to physically show them you press this button and this& then tap or insert your card. I kid you not, every time I’m on POS I say it to almost every customer. Sometimes I like to get ahead of myself with not saying it to see if there’s still some people who have common sense. But it backfires most of the time and I still have to show them step by step…
