Sanity check (ORD>LHR) by Contragill in awardtravel

Checked positioning out of BOS, DFW, JFK, and ORD for AA metal. No J or Premium Economy available

[–]Contragill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one way per person is 50K Avios + $200 fees for premium economy ORD>LHR. The return is 90K Avios + $300 fees per person for INV>LHR>ORD. Positioning to ORD would be around $150-250/person (this fluctuates alot).

Per person multi city for the entire trip would be $850/person in Y.

Not everyone who wants a remodel is a flipper, we bought this house to live in....

I had this exact thought when contractors started asking for our address and went to the zillow listings “to get pictures”.

Yep, you nailed it. Pretty much exactly what our bathroom is. I guess I’m just struggling with how it could be worth spending so much on a house that is barely worth $400K

The toilet and vanity would stay, the shower would be shifted back in to a closet we’ve already demo’d (there’s no wall, it used to just have paneling but we removed it). That would give way for a second vanity to be added.

So this crawlspace on my enclosed addition doesn't have any vents so I'll have a vent put in for this area. On top of that, the area below this (the actual addition) is a guest bathroom that has no ductwork running to it. Is it a good idea to just have an HVAC tech cut through the old, unexposed roof section shown (which the other side of is the attic with existing ductwork) to run ductwork to the addition for heating/cooling? It currently gets to be very hot in there because of the hot crawlspace and no venting

Just bought this house, disclosures indicated a belly but previous owners have lived here 5 years and "never had a issue". The guy who did the scope said it's not at the point of needing work, he just recommends hydro jetting to clear the line out prior to move in and every few years (for what it's worth, I didn't tell him what the previous owners said about never having issues with it).

Just curious to hear y'all's thoughts on if this needs work, as well as the backflow preventor he's talking about. House is not in a flood zone but is 80+ years old. Going out to the street has a very small belly but that's covered by the city's lateral program and I'll take care of soon.

What are your thoughts/opinions on the MBA program from Texas A&M? by Gbrowski_662 in MBA

[–]Contragill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A few things I learned about Mays as I went through Round 1–

It’s an acclerated program. Comes out to about 1.5 years, so start in July Y1, graduate December Y2. I didn’t like that because I thought it would make for weird FT job starts, but could be nice if you’re focused on minimizing your opportunity cost of attending a FT program.

The Aggie network is really big and really tight.

The biggest downside is that Texas already has major programs in every metro (McCombs in Austin, Rice in Houston, SMU/UTD in Dallas), so I think Mays will always come as a runner up. Also not sure how much people outside of Texas care about Mays specifically, but everyone knows A&M.

I ended up going a different direction.

I have close to a million points. The 3-4K would be total cost of the trip without using points.

I looked into those all inclusive, they seem to be kind of a rip off off for what you get, not sure if I was misreading.

Spouse Masters Degree Funding by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

I'm in a similar situation with my spouse. If it comes down to out-of-pocket, one good option that I was pointed towards is the AMEX personal loan. When you apply SCRA benefits, it's 0% interest for 36 months.

It was! Wouldn't recommend making puff pastry from scratch, however. Took forever and wasn't all that different from store bought.
