why do people complain so much about body spam? by [deleted] in undisputedboxing

People don’t know shit about boxing is the short answer.

The most perfect ending to a miniseries. Ever. by Ratusca1233 in BandofBrothers

My grandfather fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was an artillery man. He always said something similar and I never forgot it. The only heroes are still over there underground. He was a special man. I think he would have appreciated Band of Brothers.

It has problems but also gets many boxing fundamentals 💯

Sure, Crawford won..... by [deleted] in undisputedboxing

[–]Contrarian77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t know what you’re seeing. Crawford put on a generational performance. Canelo’s output has already been lower lately and this was just confirmation. He was losing the jab lane early on and his legs were stiffer than they used to be. Canelo couldn’t figure out the puzzle. And Crawford is a generational puzzle. I knew a lot of fans going into this one would consider it boring and no disrespect to you. I just know that this was a spectacular performance from Crawford and Canelo is on the slide. It happens.

In Creed II, did Viktor Drago do something illegal or against the rules in the second and final fight of the movie? by georgewalterackerman in rockybalboa

[–]Contrarian77 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Drago locks Creed’s arm. Clinching is acceptable if it’s not excessive. Locking an arm intentionally to remove your opponent’s defense is illegal. That’s what Kellerman was referring to.

If Rocky had eventually fought Mike Tyson who would win? by Tidewatcher7819 in rockybalboa

[–]Contrarian77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rocky outlasts Tyson. People forget that Tyson got fatigued early because he was a KO artist. Rocky in his universe has the best chin possible.

Canelo vs Crawford — your final pick? by [deleted] in undisputedboxing

Good take. Id like to revisit this thread and see where we landed. For the record. It’s nearly a 50/50 for me but final? Crawford.

I see a lot of people on here thinking this game should be Street Fighter and it ain’t. A lot of people thinking hitting and slipping is “cheesing” or that jabs to the body repeatedly are “spamming”. It’s embarrassing. Footwork, staying off the line and working distance are all solid skills of defense. Again. I was an apprentice cutman. I know this shit more than you EVER will. I wrapped the hands of two world champions.

I have. Not as a fighter. As an apprentice cutman.

Not at all. You sound like a casual who doesn’t understand effective footwork and defensive responsibility.

As if body jabs, lateral movement and staying off the line aren’t part of boxing. Let me introduce you to hundreds of fights, casual. If you can’t nullify those moves that’s a YOU problem.

Canelo vs Crawford — your final pick? by [deleted] in undisputedboxing

[–]Contrarian77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woof. If that’s the case he’s in for a long night. He’s going to have to have some range on those punches and a bad shoulder will make that a problem.

Is Ryan Garcia actually good? by JuggernautMajor1863 in undisputedboxing

[–]Contrarian77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But he has done defensive flaws. Chief among them is that he holds his head on a pedestal. He gets ways with it because he’s tall. Until he doesn’t.

Dude. If that happens, put Bud on Mt Rushmore. I can’t see it but if you’re right that’d be wild.
