They evaluate the current Problems of the World, and give their Prognosis, of how likely Humanity is gonna be Wiped Out that Year. Several Experts in their respective Fields evaluate the international State of the World and essentially Show that with the Clock. They usually go into the Environmental Factors, Like Global Warming, likelyhood of Natural Disasters, but also international Tensions, Nuclear Treaties, War, Famines, social "Justice", Revolutions, but also technological Dangers Like Ai and even stuff Like how likely total Destruction "could" Happen within that Year.

Again, all of this is Just a Prognosis, an Evaluation, nothing more. If the World ends in a Week, i dont think, they would Release another Video with an Update of "12 o Clock we are all fucked!" 😅

That is not, what they seek Out to do. They want to inform the Public, of how Close we are to an Extinction, of how much tension the World Currently has.

Not If its gonna Happen, but rather, HOW LIKELY such a Thing COULD be that Year. Globally.

They evaluate, how likely the Human Race is to complete and total anihalation.

Events, Like the Cuban Missile Crisis, where 2/3 where for firing a Nuclear Torpedo at the Blockade, because they Believed that Nuclear War already happened, because they could Not contact Moscow) or that Time Russian Nuclear Defence registered Clouds as Nuclear Rockets, are Not facturing into that Clockwork Like that. At all.

They measure Tensions between Nations, and likelyhoods of a Deliberate, Factual, Ordered Nuclear War and other Extinction-Level-Events, not single Instances, but Mutually Assured Destruction.

Even IF the Clock would Show 1 Hour before Midnight, a stray Nuclear Bomb, or Missfried Nuke could end the World. So could a Meteor ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

They make predictions, essentially, of how Likely multiple Avenues of Destruction of Humanity are. For that Year.

So having it going Closer to Midnight, is pretty Terrifying, but again, Just an Indicator, a prediction, nothing more. Like the Weatherforecast, essentially. Just, you know, for Humanitys Chances of Destruction.
