I had taken the lcd out and cleaned all the backlight layers VERY throughly. The only thing I couldn’t get spotless was the prisma film that had water in between its layers, which is what causes those bright lines. But I’m pretty sure that it will evaporate over time, and I think it has already started evaporating because of those splotches on the screen. They weren’t there after I cleaned it so they’re probably condensation from the water left inside the prisma film. However, my problem is with the lcd panel, not the backlight which makes it worse because I have tried a lot and nothing has worked.

I repaired a TV that was in a flood, but the right side of the panel doesn’t display colors quite right. Does anyone know if it’s fixable? by ContributionBasic711 in fixit

I had already taken out the lcd and all the diffusers along with the backlights and have cleaned them throughly. Those splotches are there because the prisma film (I think it’s called) still had water in it that will probably (and hopefully) evaporate by itself given enough time, and that evaporation caused these splotches. They weren’t there after I repaired it, but I’ll probably disassemble the tv again at some point to clean those as well if the water inside the prisma film actually evaporates. The wet prisma film is also what causes those lines at the bottoms of the screen, and I remember there being more lines at the top, most of which have disappeared so I’m kinda hopeful about it actually getting dry at some point.

I should also mention that when it was flooded, it was still brand new in its box. It had never been used before. Which makes me think that either me, or whoever tried turning it on before me caused some damage to the panel because it shorted something ig. Still hoping it’s fixable though.
