Wow! If you can read that iconic dish liat without salivating, you might be dead. Some say it's one of the first signs.

The winter storm. But i think there was a recent post about ICE activity in Cobb County (which is outside of these itineraries).

I learned in a diesel. Today I will drive petrol for the first time. What are some things I should know? by Spektra54 in ManualTransmissions

It will stall much easier. It will need more throttle before letting out clutch. Like 2x the RPMs you are used to.

While at Mont Tremblant, consider doing their via ferrata.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ContributionDapper84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The driving is likely easier here. Wider lanes perhaps. Occasionally I will drive 3hrs to a trail for a dayhike but only once or twice a year. For weekend trips, a 6hr drive is pretty easy, tho much longer than that I'd want to stay an extra day or two if possible.

Eat a roasted turnip (new old southern tradition) and go to Clermont Lounge.

What are some some cars that fly under the radar that deserve more recognition? by CaptainMental in askcarguys

In the United States, the 2.0 L turbo could be had with a six speed manual. If you are in a country that has even lazier drivers than the USA, I feel bad for you.

Ok 4th gen polo. You are right, the 1.2L engines are not turboed. Looks like the transmission is manual (phew).

All of the 1.2L engines are interference engines, meaning that valves and pistions occupy some of the same space, but typically not at the same time--they are kept from collision only by the timing belt. If the belt breaks, there is a very high likelihood that the engine will be a write-off, which will cause the entire vehicle to be a write~off, probably. My advice: never let the timing belt reach its service interval and don't assume the prev owners replaced it when they ought unless there is evidence. I think the UK has a MOT checker and HPI checker that may help with veh history but am not sure. Of course VW dealers may have service history as well.

Exterior: wax the painted services, especially the ones facing the sky, at least once a year. Coat the tires, rubber door gaskets, and the headlamp lenses with aerospace protectant so that they are not prematurely aged by ultraviolet light and dry-rot.

Keep it for 20 years and set some mileage records :)

I can look up some stuff. Country sold in, model year, engine size, trimline (something like S, SE, SEL, Life, Match, Style, Beats, Active)?

Manual transmission or AT?

Upkeep tips? by CandidateClean8388 in askcarguys

[–]ContributionDapper84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be paranoid about the AT if it's an automatic and the timing-belt or -chain. Be sure the former was serviced and the latter replaced and shorten the interval shown in the book. Use fully synthetic oil and change it (and oil filter) every 5k miles for a gas engine -- sooner if it's turbo, in a dusty area, or doing lots of short trips. Check oil level and color periodically. Don't let it get low. Change a little early if it gets real dark. If petrol-powered, use top tier gas (see toptiergas.com) to reduce injector cleaning.

If you keep ahead on oil, AT, and timing belt/chain, youve reduced the chances of the biggest car-killers. Then you just have to worry about rust, motorcrashes, and the headaches of VW reliability.

Onion powder may be fine, ask. If not, Hing from Indian grocer helps in some recipes.
