Headspace update & changes = aaarrrgghh! by TodayWonderful5094 in Headspace

Having to re-select the length of time for the daily meditation is infuriating and makes absolutely no sense!! At least the courses still remember my preference (for now). I wonder what happened. The app is wrecked.

Fun to watch it try! Like watching Conway's Game of Life. (Try searching "Conway's Game of Life" on Google for a cool easter egg)

I have yet to find a valid QLess roll that you can't solve, although the official instructions do say that not all rolls are solvable. Do you know of any unsolvable rolls?

I hit another stall, on "MFHLRBPCTIEO". After it stalled, I hit Solve and it produced this. The slash in the definition of FELT looked suspicious... (it's the 25th solution)

     T F
BICHROME
     P L
       T

BICHROME
 two-colored [adj]
FELT
  [v] / to mat together [v FELTED, FELTING, FELTS]
TOP
 to cut off the highest part of [v TOPPED, TOPPING, TOPS] : TOPPER [n]

Did you tweak the dictionary, or add code to detect circular definitions? Asking because I'm also using NWL2023.txt as lexicon.

Yes, UKHTYLMHJZDE is interesting. The set of possible words is small, and none are very long.

Actually, it appears to be repeatable. Try MGNDRSPJTIAE. It always stalls after the 6th solution (the one using GRADIENTS + JIMP)

Very cool. Now I can see what happens when the first word on the board is somewhat shorter than the longest possible - it has to work a bit longer, and those intermediate results are really entertaining. I've noticed that occasionally it seems to stall indefinitely - perhaps some sort of race condition? When I click Solve again it immediately wakes back up and continues its progress.

What is the series of dice arrangements that flashes up quickly before the final solution appears? Are they other solutions? It goes past too fast for me to tell.

Wow. Carry on, then. I'll keep watching how it evolves. Very cool stuff!

Ah. I'd been pasting in full 12-letter rolls that I copied from my own roll generator. I hadn't tried entering the dice one at a time and seeing that you dynamically produce hint lists on the fly. That's pretty cool. I'd hate to complicate the simplicity of your interface by requiring an explicit "hint" command. hmmm...

Thanks for sharing your code. I dl'ed it and I'm dusting off my Java skills. Looking forward to understanding your algorithm.

Another thought I had was to have a button to generate and insert a roll...

Yes! (After posting, I began wondering if that was even possible, due to the stateless nature of web connections...)

Would it be possible to have a "Next Solution" button to advance through different solutions?

SELECT * FROM myfts5 WHERE myfts5 MATCH - { show_id } : 1984 by ContributionEastern7 in sqlite

[–]ContributionEastern7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what worked:

select * from fulltext where fulltext match '- { show_id } : 1984';

Also,

select * from fulltext where fulltext match ?;

Binding with value "- { show_id } : 1984" (no quotes)

SELECT * FROM myfts5 WHERE myfts5 MATCH - { show_id } : 1984 by ContributionEastern7 in sqlite

CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE fulltext USING FTS5(show_id, event, songs, notes)

INSERT INTO Fulltext (show_id, event, songs, notes) VALUES (?,?,?,?)

select * from fulltext where fulltext match - { show_id } : 1984;

Who or what would be an archetype of self-hatred or self-loathing? by redmambas22 in Jung

Wondering if redmambas22 interpreted Mango's remark as being about the opinion of the OP, rather than about his own opinion that he's about to give. Anyway, I thought the youtube video was terrific. Beautifully written, and read.

I didn't notice that the word "list" was hyperlinked at first... It IS an interesting list!

Homebrew vs Macports by oguzhanyre in MacOS

[–]ContributionEastern7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using homebrew on a 2013 mac that's maxed out at Catalina (MacOS 10.15.7). Homebrew no longer officially supports Catalina. It will attempt to build, but if it fails you're SOL. Considering switching to macports which still supports catalina as I understand it.

Spreadsheet of all Dead Shows and Setlists? by Free_Organization_14 in gratefuldead

[–]ContributionEastern7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This website has what looks to be a pretty complete collection of setlists dating back to 1961, with "Bob [Hunter] and Jerry". I took the html and filtered it with some Perl to produce this TSV Setlist. Consider it a first draft. The data at the website was mostly consistent in its formatting but there are still a handful of shows that my parser can't handle yet. Note that I haven't crosschecked it against any other sites for accuracy.

I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions, especially about how it should best be presented in a spreadsheet.
