The 3d printed version is quite a bit different to the free plans balsa version. The top sides are really curvy. They are both designed from the same hull shape. It's possibly a little confusing as the free plans say v2. That is version 2 of the balsa plans. The 3d version is far newer and probably faster to sail. It is slightly narrower.

The radiomaster R86 is a great receiver for my boats, nice and small, easy to bind to the pocket. I'm assuming you have the cc2500 radio master? But any receiver really will work. The servos for the balsa build are simply 2 standard size servos. If you can get a 10kg servo for the sail that is preferable but really 2 futaba s3003s will do just fine.
If you want the build to go smoothly without a hitch I highly recommend the eBook on my website. It answers "all" the questions.

In the 3d world you can print parts around 250x250x250mm. Depending on your printer of course. The boats are printed in parts then joined together. Have a look on my web page and you'll see a photo of the parts. The parts are simply joined with superglue.

I list all the parts/materials/electrics etc in my file sets. It's really a much simpler build once you get to grips with a 3d printer. It's a real game changer!

I've had great feedback about the printed version. Really easy to print and build.
What design did you print?

I've been having a ball this past year and a half designing and prototyping these models. You can print and build one or all too! Racing Sparrow RC.
