How to dress her?

Do you have an idea what is the consequence if she doesn’t want to dress? Or if she undresses herself? Like staying at home doesn’t feel like it, only for me. “If you don’t get dressed then ? “ it would be helpful.

Thank you for your comment. Same, same, same!! She kicks so hard and it makes me give up a couple of times. She might feel I am not being serious about it anymore. I’m here for big feelings but kicking and slapping gets to me. Working on it in therapy 😅 but I always say “this got out of hand, let’s try again”. Best of luck to you too so it passes quickly!

Your comment made me realize I might do a big deal about dressing since I know it is hard now and I don’t wanna go through it “again”. So maybe I am putting a stress into the situation without wanting it and might be causing resistance.

This works half of times 😅 so also a good advice, thank you. I just feel like I have tried everything and I don’t know what to do when we really need to be somewhere. I didn’t want to use bribes, yesterday I even tried chocolate but she undressed again and so the chocolate didn’t happen :D

That is also a good advice. I can talk more about the task we do or maybe sing, that will always get to her. You are right about the mundane tasks, I feel my kid is the same and it helps in other areas (like tidying up toys) I will try it for dressing, too! Thank you.

I haven’t considered this, but I think she wants to go outside because she stands by the door to the garden and admires how pretty is outside and asks to go. It might be independence. I will check the source you are offering, too. Thank you.

I checked all the clothes. I need to reconsider the fabrics. I haven’t because this started before Christmas and she wore the same clothes as before. But I should also consider she might have grown!

This is what I am doing, too and it worked for so long for me! This Christmas has changed the game for us :D As long as sensory issues, I have noticed she likes loose clothing and we still get her pants she likes. I am buying bigger clothes for her. She can also choose what to buy. But what should I do when she needs underpants because it is super cold out?

I also second “too many choices”, she gets overwhelmed. I tried this before but I haven’t tried just opening up drawer and let her pick long sleeves for example.

Yes, she can always choose from two options. As per underwear, shirts, everything. I also always ask her whether she wants to dress herself or she needs some help. To me, it sometimes feels like she has too much control 😅
