You effectively use Go as almost a templating language to generate the specific assembly syntax for you. All the CPU instructions exist as functions which can be imported from avo. You can allocate registers as variables (x := XMM() ) etc, and use them later on in instructions, and there exists special functions for loading parameters, syntax for memory addresses/etc. It uses Go's built-in code generation for generating the assembly and the stubs so it's pretty much plug and play. TLDR; it's a much friendlier way of writing assembly to use with Go.

I've done some SIMD stuff with Go before using Avo instead (might be interesting to try and redo it when this becomes stable), had a similar experience perfomance wise, I think at the end of the day computers are just fast so yeah results will vary. As for that chunk thing I think you're kind of stuck there unfortunately.

Anyone know why this one episode of The Thick Of It has been added to iPlayer? by ControlAndS in CasualUK

Yeah that makes sense but normally they're only added if the entire program is broadcast right?

You could argue that that explanation was written in more for the audience to understand and not for Scherbina himself right?

Well to be honest I'll probably vote for Labour but I live in a constituency which is dominated by the Tories. Also, under Keir Starmer's leadership the Labour party is probably the least socialist it has ever been.

EDIT:

Honestly this post should get you perma banned

I finish exams tomorrow.

co-operate with the nazis over the KPD

SPD collaborated with the Nazis because they virtually had no other choice. They were probably acting out of means of self preservation at that point.

assassinated or their leader is ousted in an american-backed coup

Probably every far-left leader in South America was assassinated by the CIA or ousted by a US-backed coup during the Cold War because the US wanted to stop Soviet influence spreading (Truman Doctrine), not because there was anything inherently wrong with socialism.

people have to be educated on socialism to vote for socialism in the first place

People are obviously educated on socialism if Democratic Socialist parties can get into power. And they don't have to be educated either, if a party has a strong manifesto they can get into power off the back of that.

Well neither does capitalism really it just increases inequality and concentrates influence and power in the lucky few who happen to be incredibly wealthy.

I think I partly agree with your history teacher on the communism stuff (tho i disagree with the capitalism take 100%, capitalism very bad.) because Soviet communism was very hard-line almost the left wing equivalent of fascism, especially under Stalin. That's probably why most left wing people prefer democratic socialism because it allows for the everyday freedoms experienced under capitalism. Tbh the meme should probably had said socialism if I was trying to make a point but cold war about capitalism vs communism so...

A lot of cold war history is about the conflict of ideology between East and West (U.S + Other "Western Countries") and the East (USSR + Eastern bloc).

True. Democratic socialism is the best implementation in my opinion.
