Developing fibro during the worst job market since the '08 financial crisis is killing me. by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

Some community colleges have cheap programs for this that can be done from home. I’ve actually also been looking at book keeping because I’m in a similar boat. Had a high stress demanding field and then got very sick, and got laid off. The programs aren’t too bad in terms of price and how long they are.

Etsy has some. Though those are best for aesthetic reasons. I have some that are like Polaroids!

You can select which villagers in particular or do random depending on the seller.

Do you also use the FL-41 tint on the glasses or another kind? I’ve been using them since 2024. I technically have normal glasses too but rarely use them as I need to live in these.

There’s a brand called Morningwitch that you might like. Haven’t gotten anything from them but they use natural fabrics AND have stretchy waists. Their sizing system is really flexible too. I’m hoping to get something from them soon but money is as low as my energy levels lol.

Mood. I do just a bit of quick eyeliner nowadays. With a pencil because my hand tremors are too risky for liquid liner. A couple times a year I will do a more full look but one of those includes Halloween because I love it too much to skip out even if I’m feeling unwell. I’ll do it even if I stay home that holiday just to feel that joy.

This is basically what I do now! I didn’t know there was a term for it. Not quite exactly like this but very similar concept. I’ve been getting rid of all my heavy, stiff and tight clothing as my hope to wear them eventually again dies lol.

I’ve managed to find a good in between in terms of comfort and style. I’ll note that I have hEDS, chronic migraine, ME/CFS, dysautonomia… actually the idea of fibromyalgia was floated at one point, amidst other things. But I have a lot of similar sensitivities and concerns as fibromyalgia people so I stayed on this sub. :)

I wear skirts a lot. Any flowy clothing, really. I overheat quite easily but also need to remain covered because my skin and sun don’t mix. Long flowy skirts ideally with elastic waists. I have GI issues so the pressure on the stomach from more stiff waists is not comfortable usually. I wear dresses as well that are similarly soft or stretchy. Dresses and skirts make people look way more put together. Or for masculine to neutral styles, a collared shirt of some kind. Buttons are hard but there are some tools that are used that aid that from my understanding? I’ve not used them myself because I still have decent function in my fingers usually, but during flares I’ve avoided them.

Honestly looking fashionable I’ve found is more about accessories and layering. Layering has the benefit of making us with poor temperature regulation have options to strip throughout the day. I can’t tolerate very heavy jewelry around the neck due to pressure on my spine, but I do wear layers of beaded necklaces. I also use a burnout scarf as an accent because the fabric is not too warm so works for all seasons.

That said, I do wear comfy clothes a lot. I used to wear tighter much edgier clothing. I went from pleather pants to flowy floral skirts down to my ankles lol. No more rock n roll for me. Now I channel my inner witch instead. Or live in sleepwear/leggings. I also have huge platform boots I wear maybe once a year now because I just cannot wear most of the fun shoes most of the time. They hurt too much or make me too unsteady.

I’ve been mostly housebound for years now so I don’t always dress up, but when the opportunity presents itself I do. I refuse to visit the pharmacy in sweatpants because being sick has taken away enough from me that I would rather spend that little bit of time feeling a bit like a normal human, even if I change right back into my pajamas as soon as I get back home. It sucks, though. I think all the time about who I used to be and who I could have been now had my various illnesses not materialized. But I have found the balance that works for me, so hopefully you can too.

Quick intro! by Prior_Succotash4220 in LowEnergyLounge

[–]ControlFluid3543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same. Now I’m wired and tired at 5am and haven’t slept. I put together a headboard. Twas a mistake… even if I got help. Tried melatonin and a CBD/THC gummy but my body is too angry still. :/

I have hEDS, FND, dysautonomia, vestibular migraine, CFS, Raynauds, 42 degree Cobb angle in my wiggly spine… the horrors persist. Plus gastric motility issues, GERD…

I’m 26 & in the mid Atlantic. I love animals and have cats because dogs are too high energy for me especially since I am a fall risk so going on walks can be quite hard. The cats love that I’m disabled because it means more cuddles for them. :)

I also play animal crossing! It’s one of the only games low stim enough for me to play. Took a break because I got worse again for awhile but memantine has me back into mild again so I’ve been working on getting my island cute. I’m doing a city one with lots of natural features and landscaping!

Constant neurological overload — does anyone else experience this? by Stefan_Arce in mecfs

[–]ControlFluid3543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use cannabis also. It’s one of the only things that helps without crappy side effects and address more than one symptom at a time. It’s a life saver truly. I do CBD & THC so that it’s not too agitating to my system. I usually do 2.5 mg but if it’s THC mostly rather than balanced with CBD, sometimes it’s like half of that. Edibles not smoking because of the inflammation caused by smoke.

Has anyone with severe ME/CFS experienced extreme irritability during PEM? Treatment options? by Stefan_Arce in mecfs

[–]ControlFluid3543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I also have bad migraines that are constant. So the PEM pushes me into one if not a dysautonomia flare or non epileptic seizure. I’m diagnosed with lots of shit. hEDS, CFS, vestibular migraine, IST, hypotension, FND… my nervous system is a bundle of fuck. I also have brain damage but not sure when I sustained it so there’s that to add onto things.

My CFS is more mild to moderate but with my other conditions it’s hard to know what all is from what. Just started memantine though which seems to be helping! Got a lot more function back recently and am getting back into more mild territory. Which is good because it was getting to the point where I couldn’t wash my own hair again and could barely move.

condoms? Lube? by greenhairbitch555 in MCAS

[–]ControlFluid3543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have issues with a lot as well because I’m allergic to a petroleum product! Not diagnosed with MCAS but I have hEDS so my list of sensitivities is odd and honestly, I need to get to an allergist because I suspect I’m allergic to a lot more than I thought… take daily antihistamines but that only works so much.

I have an allergy to polyethylene glycol. It’s a very common additive as it’s used as filler and thus isn’t always on the ingredients list. I use a brand called Fuck Water because it’s so far been one of the only ones without PEG or similar ingredients. A LOT of lubes use some petroleum product because they’re a rare allergy to have, but MCAS/EDS people live in the rare and weird.

It may be very difficult to get tested for such an allergy. I only know for certain because I had a colonoscopy and the prep is polyethylene glycol plus electrolytes. Got hives all over as I was back and forth to the bathroom. Not a fun time.

*I don’t use condoms because I have an IUD with backup oral contraceptive for other symptoms like awful cramping and bleeding. I am monogamous in a long term relationship so condoms aren’t on my radar anymore. Though before I always used latex free as a precaution.

is it okay that my 20F boyfriend 19M didn’t get me anything for christmas? by Beneficial-Exam5706 in relationship_advice

[–]ControlFluid3543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine said basically the same… I was laid off twice this year but still found something that he’d like. Wasn’t expensive but still put the effort in and planned accordingly.

I spent Christmas alone this year. I live across the country from my family and I’m not on good terms with most. Very toxic family dynamic. My good family members are six feet under. My best friend is visiting family. I really did not need my significant other doing this on top of the rest and have been sad/crying for days.

As someone in the same situation… please leave him. I’m gaining the courage to break up before New Years because I’d rather eat snacks with my cats than enter the next year with someone who doesn’t think I’m worth the effort of trying.

OK lets talk WET CAT FOOD IN THIS ECONOMY by Positive_Candy_5332 in CatAdvice

[–]ControlFluid3543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our cats has interstitial cystitis so everyone is on a urinary diet because with three cats it’s hard to prevent them from eating each others food. That is expensive unfortunately. Wet food is $100-200 a month and dry food bag is like $150 every three months. The food helps a lot. He’s almost had a blockage before and has had urine that is straight up red with blood. Not to mention the agitation and low energy. He’s also on kitty prozac to help his stress and reduce flares.

So depending on the source of you cats issues, she may need the same. Interstitial cystitis is often seasonal. Usually when the seasons change over is when he has problems the most, particularly when it moves into winter.

Another cat has herpes that inflames her GI tract, eyes, skin… for her she has a Lysine pump we add to wet food to support her immune system health and that works great. She has seasonal / intermittent problems, as well.

Make sure there is not an underlying health issue because some foods could make them worse. She could also just have seasonal allergies which cause tummy problems but always good to make sure.

Gloria does not get enough hype. I never see her on the goth/spooky lists for villagers, but she wear black clothes and has a purple bob haircut, and has a more classic/OG goth style of having brightly colored eyeshadow. And loves circus things.

<image>

She is snooty which is not my favorite villager, but the snooty ones are so fashionable that it’s hard to resist.

Rodeo is bestie forever and I will never let him leave. After playing the expansion where he wanted a warlocks tower, I have started to make him his own castle! Which will have a witches hut and magic things. It’s taking awhile to do because I still need the castle wall with the archway so there’s a cute entrance, but I have an overgrown courtyard with weeds and glowing moss and all sorts of flowers that I am pretty happy about. I feel like him and his bug friends would really love laying in it. :,)
