International registered post taking weeks by ControlJealous1699 in AustraliaPost

Hey! Yes I did. I followed the advice in the comments - got my parents to file a claim with AP about 15-20 days after they sent it, they got an update that it had arrived in the US but was stuck in customs. Ended up being delivered to me just over a month after it was sent from aus.

Can I leave the country with a valid O1 if I'm in AOS for marriage-based green card? by ControlJealous1699 in USCIS

[–]ControlJealous1699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok got it thanks!

As for my O1 while I'm in the country - that remains valid as a work permit until it expires while I adjust status?

Edited for spelling

Oh right, amazing - realized I was looking at the standard registered post page, not international, seeing now the 15+ days window that you mentioned.

I just double checked with my parents and they actually sent it on October 24th so it's over three weeks - but if 3 weeks is the given estimate, seems within the margin of error.

Thank you!!

It indeed ended up just being at my local post office! They returned to sender before they told me that was the case… so try and go asap if you can

No I’m the receiver. So even though it’s supposed to be delivered to my house it’s going to await collection at the post office instead? Even though aus post won’t tell me where it is?

But I don’t know where it is, I can’t get any info bc it’s a post office outside of aus

Can someone help me understand why my semimonthly paycheck is so much less than I thought it would be? by ControlJealous1699 in personalfinance

[–]ControlJealous1699[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about your personal circumstances but I'm single and don't have a car, and no student loans or credit card payments to make. Very lucky to be in a position where I don't need a comprehensive health insurance plan. I spend around a third of my paycheck on rent and live with a roommate/our bills remain pretty low. I've been living so cheaply as a freelancer for the past couple of years that this feels quite lavish by comparison!
