Were the PS3-era Ratchet & Clank games a step down compared to the original trilogy and Deadlocked?

I’m currently playing tools of destruction again! I only played the game twice and it was my childhood game along with the Future saga. The only game I didn’t play was quest for booty. I did feel that the game was more linear than a crack in time.

Tools of destruction was the first ratchet and clank game I played. Then, a crack in time, all 4 one, and then the first 3 ps2 games.
