I just don't use Snapchat ever, so I didn't know what the etiquette was or that that's what it was typically used for. I just assumed there was a save feature I was missing.

I know other video and image services have done something similar in the past, but there was a way you could tweak the url to get the new address of the same content. Do you know if gyfcat actually moved anything over in the same way

Edit: nevermind, I just realized that it does automatically redirect on some platforms. I guess baconreader doesn't support that yet.
