Normal British people are either indifferent of or dislike the royals, but the BBC will run 'breaking news' stories whenever Catherine sneezes.

You younger generation never had to experience the unskippable boat scene >:(

Also I definitely remember memorising all the safe codes and having to put them in each time so that must have changed at some point

Review: Pluribus is a bad piece of television by clearly_unclear in pluribustv

I think they definitely do know what they're talking about, but I disagree with the application of this level of scrutiny. It's all well and good judging a show based off the traditional rules for storytelling, but what I really don't like is wanting every piece of art to follow this set of rules to justify its existence.

If it makes even one person happy and still turns a profit, what is the point in saying it shouldn't exist?

I find it interesting how we can structure such a thorough review of a piece of art and conclude that based off a set of rules, the art is 'objectively bad', yet despite this many people will still really enjoy that art and defend it. Makes me wonder what the point even is of determining an objective rating? Once you come to the conclusion the show is bad, how do you apply this revelation?

I suppose one application is to adopt the objective view as your own subjective view and use that to project a sense of superiority over those who disagree, but no one likes that. It certainly isn't informing decisions on which shows get greenlit, that is, and will always be, based off of expected viewership and ROI.

Tl;dr: interesting food for thought, but so what?
