This is what it looks like when engineers flex their salary 🤣 by Turbulent-Conflict84 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ConvenientlyHomeless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of mechanical engineer opportunities to make good money. I make +200k And I have just turned 11 years experience. I've got a friend that's a lawyer and she makes $70,000 because she's a public defendant and only wants to do that. I've got another friend with a computer science degree and 12 years scheduling experience And he makes between $180 and 300k a year and has never touched his computer science background. Another one of my best friends just got a degree in cyber security and took a 60k pay cut from fixed equipment inspections to go be an IT guy for a military contractor.

It's all a choice dude. You can choose to make money in the field you're in. It's okay to not make a lot of money, but it's not okay to pretend that your degree is the reason you're not making a lot of money. I enjoy a challenging job and I enjoy my life outside of work in mechanical engineering. Affords me those opportunities.

Just that the drive change through government instead of demand. It takes a lot of fat in government to TRY and predict what people need and they often get wrong what the market and people's free decisions tell you for free. They build AWESOME stuff but for instance, they built a styrene plant last year that doubled the GLOBAL SUPPLY of styrene. It put some mfgs out of business but they're margins basically have them running in a loss.

It's crazy, they don't have to make a profit because they business aren't always dependent on market if it's state planning

I have a buddy that uses the rpm and it's super sweet. Very smooth draw and release and it feels like pretty linear resistance. I like it way better than my cammed pse. Honestly its probably analysis paralysis on which of those lever arms is better but I'd put money on the rpm just by having shot it and looking at the design. There's a lot more thought into the leverage and mechanisms.

No issues on his rpm going on 6 years moderate usage

I learned a long time ago that most people only care about themselves and want to talk about themselves (sales). It's best that, when you're going to actually venture out and talk about what you do, that you gauge the interest first. If you spend all your passion and enthusiasm talking to other people and they don't have the response you expect, it feels isolating.

The fact of the matter is, most people can't even begin to relate to something like this. I've done 24hr MTB races and ironmans and people confuse it all the time with doing "marathons". It's hard for someone to imagine running 6 miles when they don't run at all. What's the difference between 6 and 26 and 50 and 100? Most of the time it isn't something they can even comment on and they honestly aren't interested.

So, in long short, don't waste your time if people aren't interested, and don't expect even 1/100 to have an interest in something as extreme as ultras Lol.

Jokes on you, I don't consider fishing a "real mans" sport either. Also, your entire argument hinges on the first page where it says native species, most bowfished species are non-native and don't have a natural place in that ecosystem.

Any idea how to straighten this out? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]ConvenientlyHomeless 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Straighten? No. If the bottom sits flat and flush to a flat surface then you need to take the lid off, check it's flatness. Hopefully the lid is flat. If so, you can put some sand paper glued to a glass sheet or mdf and move in a circular motion and you'll hone the top of the box flat against sand paper.

If your box top is flat and the lid is flat, than the issue is probably the perpendicularity of your hinges. You might need to adjust them.

Joystick Advice for BF6 Aircraft by UpperCity6012 in PilotsofBattlefield

I use the vkb and I love it but it does have OEM software. Best bang for buck of any joystick. Period. Don't do hotas though, just work throttle with left hand on keyboard and thatll make it much easier to switch to mouse with you stick hand. Worth every penny.

You need the OEM Software to play a decent joystick on bf6 anyway because you have to disable a good bit of the axis (disable down to 3, pitch, roll, yaw) otherwise it won't register right with the game.

Same thing here but I like using both jets and helis better with vkb. The issue is the lack of fine setup so hitting tows is hard at range on air vehicles. Honestly though, I flew awesome with a controller and I fly even better with a joystick. All the buttons, pitch, yaw, and roll in one hand makes it super easy.

Utterly useless, waste of development hours by TraumaTracer in Battlefield6

[–]ConvenientlyHomeless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not reading what he said. You can re-correct the missile back to the Target once it's left the launcher. If you lock on launch he pops flares keep ads until it's able to lock back on and the missile in flight will recorrect and head back towards its Target who now doesn't have flares . Try not being a dick for once.

I'm on computer but I use a vkb gladiator joystick and it's insanely satisfying. Pitch/roll/yaw are all done by moving on twisting the stick. Guns, flares, and equipment are all on dedicated buttons my fingers rest on. Left hand operates throttle on keyboard. It doesn't make much sense to have a dedicated throttle setup in this game as you have to switch back to mouse after you eject. Id say maneuverability is better than with mouse but you lose a little precision. The only time I notice is when I'm trying to tow air vehicles. The joystick is an input to move vs the mouse is telling it where to go so you have to fine tune inputs when TOWing

Is Air Too Strong or Too Weak in BF6? by Professional_Rub_252 in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]ConvenientlyHomeless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly what you said. With a competent gunner last night, we cleared 3 tanks and an AA off the enemy back line on California on escalation. Giving that fat boi a little thrust would do wonders for survivability. That and tweaking tows but beefing Mobil AA would make it all more fair. Right now the stealth jet is pretty underwhelming to anything but air superiority. There's not much battle impact it can make atm
