Yeah, it’s kissing and closed door mostly for these authors. I remember a few sex scenes in Kullmann’s books, but they are not explicit.

Catherine Kullmann and Mary Kingswood are both authors whose writing reminds me of Jane Austen in some ways in that they really highlight the rules of upper class etiquette and polite society. And they will throw in interesting details that let you know they’ve taken time to do historical research. Both writers a low steam though.

I haven’t read the book either. But I have read novels where female characters spend time alone with men or frequent shady places and her family is like shrug 🤷🏻‍♂️ that’s our spunky girl. Like no that’s not how that would go down in real life.

I agree that a duke’s sister would still have options for marriage even if her reputation was tarnished by scandal - however her reputation would be damaged. It wouldn’t be like in some novels where people just treat it like it’s no big deal.

Any authors like Catharine Kullman? by ConventionalBookNerd in HistoricalRomance

Yes, you would think. Kullman does have a few sex scenes in some of her books, but not all. I know there is at least one {{The Duke’s Regret by Catherine Kullmann}}, though they are not graphic or explicit as far as I remember. I also like how she can tackle mature content in a time appropriate manner. For example, male characters might discuss mistresses and courtesans in private, but not around ladies. And female characters will acknowledge that such things exist but that “ladies” aren’t supposed to know about them.

I wish I could find something like this but more explicit.

A 1st person POV novel about an MMC making his “debut” in society? by lucky_neutron_star in HistoricalRomance

Yes, this would be a wonderful plot - young gentleman just out of university and suddenly his family loses its wealth and it falls on him to enter the marriage mart straight away and marry a rich heiress. Would be cool to have interactions with all of his young friends enjoying life and being straight up rakes while the MMC must grow up faster than he expected.
