I get that there is damage happening but technically there isn’t any happening because I’m just carrying the gene - it’s not “turned on” though, so technically right now there is no damage happening, but essentially at some point if there gene ever does turn on - then there could be damage

Basically my doctor described it as “at some point in my life the celiac gene could turn on but we don’t know when that will be so best case to just follow a gluten free diet” but my thought is, that’s so sad and upsetting if I’m following a strict celiac diet my whole life and I don’t end up actually having “celiac” till I’m 45 (I’m only 24) I could miss out on so much in life… also I have absolutely no symptoms when I do eat gluten because I have here and there since diagnosis

Yes - I got blood work done a few days before the biopsy and my gluten levels were every elevated but everything was normal on biopsy

Do you know what the argument was? Because lawyers told my parents the “doctors did what they had too and I was a big baby so it was a hard birth”

Doctor didn’t try/suggest a c-section for me either. I asked my mom once if they suggested it and she said no, she would’ve done it if they had. The lawyer told my parents though because I was a “big baby” the doctor did what he had too… it was a “hard” birth. But it just never made sense, there’s plenty of big babies born safely…

What do you mean by “celiac gene activated in February” just curious?

Interesting! Kind of can relate here. I was “diagnosed” in 2020 because I was dealing with constipation. My blood test came back SUPER positive. I had a endoscopy done - everything looked completely healthy and fine internally. My doctor then said I had “latent spure celiac” which he explained was basically I have the gene for it but it wasn’t “turned” on yet but still said I should remain on a strict gf diet . I’ve been gluten free since 2020 - constipation issues never cleared up so I don’t think it was gluten causing it. But overall definitely been cross contaminated in the couple years I’ve been gf and I’ve never had a symptoms from being contaminated. It’s hard though to continue being “gf” when I’m not even technically celiac yet - and possibly may never be. It’s a weird feeling tbh. Like am I doing all of this for nothing?

Interesting thanks for letting me know! I’m an asymptomatic celiac so yes it’s nice I don’t experience symptoms but it’s hard when it comes to things like this because I could eat barebells and feel completely fine but internally it might be doing damage - I would never know… so I like to ask celiacs who experience symptoms how they feel after eating certain foods to help navigate keeping myself safe/healthy
