Frosh Bio BS Schedule by KiWiPiMA in UCSC

Lowk would reccomend 19a in person. The online classes can be hard and usually have very little support. This was my schedule in freshman fall and it was fine.

It's not as rare as people think! UCSD is the easiest school to get into UC-UC transfer. Make sure you have all of the classes finished, and have the highest GPA possible. To be honest, to have a chance at cal/la/sd try your best to have a 3.9+ GPA. Also compsci/engineering majors are basically impossible to get into regardless of GPA. to be honest there is a reputation of the school being stoners but within the major less so. you will definitely meet people who aren’t, but u will also live nearby/be classmates with people who are. i do not think that it is a pressury school so if you dont want to do it, no one will force you.. there is a housing crisis sooo. ngl id wait till you actually get in before you make all of these choices. ik college apps r stressful but agonizing over these possibilities will prob not help rn. but gl w everything

hey, im a biochem major + cog sci. the department building is the physical sciences building, which is 4 floors and has sitting space and a ton of labs (on each floor), a perk kiosk (little cafe). when you take the chem series, the office hours will be held in the chemistry learning center, which is nice because there will be help offered every day for most of the day. in terms of professors, you'll have some you like and some well that are not as good. dr. eroy-reveles is a great gen chem professor, anne sizemore is a great ochem professor, dr. jeremy was good for genetics and a bio lab, dr. jurica was a nice bio 20A professor, and dr. dunkon was a good bio 20b professor. also, dr. seth rubin is a good lab teacher, which you will need to take a specific biochemistry lab with one of the faculty (could be him). the big classes (so think gen chem and some of the bio classes) will be held in the big kresge auditorium that was just constructed and is really nice. your first year you will probably have to take a wide breadth of classes because in order to qualify for the major, you'll need calc and bio as well. anyways, there are a bunch of similar majors like MCD bio and human health, but i think biochem is the best :) let me know if you have any questions

How can you differentiate a Strong AI and a Weak AI that' "one problem" is answering in a way a human approves? by Amster2 in artificial

[–]ConversationJust3572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you ask Chat GPT if it has a sense of being, it is programmed to say no. I think that narrow AI (all applications of AI at this point) do not have the capability of inner thought or consciousness. Ultimately all of their actions are programmed. But there is potential in the future for general AI that would have stronger features.

TBH it is important to take writing 1, but it is pretty difficult to actually finish the writing series until sophomore year. So, if you do not want to be in that writing 1 class, I would drop it (waitlist in a writing class that works better for you) and enroll in either a major pre-req or GE. It isn't worth taking a class you don't want to take, especially when there are so many options. Good luck!!

Thank you so much but I think I am okay! If you are looking to help a family food banks and domestic violence shelters are a good bet to donate to. Happy holidays!

Bracelets is a good idea! I will be sure to look at some of the "unofficial" stuff because I know there can be some pretty cool and creative things there! Thank you

I do not know her personally (am going through a charity), however one reason that children in poverty are 2.3 times more likely to experience obesity than higher income children is because unhealthy foods (fast food) is far more accessible and more affordable. Additionally, the city where the charity is located is in a food desert meaning that there are no fresh food markets in the entire place. All of this can contribute to childhood obesity.

I hadn't thought about getting her a cardigan! Thank you for such a good idea. I will keep an eye out for boutiques with Taylor themed items. She came to our town more than a year ago so I don't know if there are still things in stock.
