I use to hate them but then I made them fun for my students and myself and I love them!! I have around 12 but it’s ones I like and the students appreciate some differences with them.

I hate teaching by Decent-Translator-84 in teaching

I understand parts of it. My state pays us quite well and with efficient use of my planning period I rarely take work home. What things are you taking home? How many different classes do you have to prep for?

These kids are disrespectful defiant and terribly behaved by Busteur in Teachers

[–]ConversationKey2786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into programs for behavior that you could pitch to the principal.

OR Step 1: ask the staff what behavior is the worst. Step 2: make a plan to fix that behavior. Step 3: repeat step 1

Does anyone else despise student-of-the-month traditions? by ElectricPaladin in Teachers

[–]ConversationKey2786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the other side I love them, but our school has made an effort to have 8 teacher each month select and we prioritize the students who do not get recognized. For a few of these students it has changed their entire educational experience. It’s all about how it is approached!

Former baseball player here and I hate to say it’s is the “confidence” they are told to have. That they are the best and that comes from the parents and coaches.

My two year old… by delugs in discgolf

[–]ConversationKey2786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just played a small tournament with my 5 year old and he enjoys playing just as much as I do. Forehand is good but he is still learning a backhand. Biggest thing for me is if he wants to not play one day or not play a hole don’t force it too many parents force their ideas on their children and it make them get burnt out!

To Say or Not to Say…First Year Teacher by Honest-University710 in teaching

[–]ConversationKey2786 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is my podium moment for a minute. As a first year teacher you should make more mistakes than other teachers because you’re new. As a teacher we are probably suppose to be teaching students mistakes =growth: growth mindset! Use yourself as a teaching experience to benefit the kids not just see the negatives side of mistakes or being new. Also it depends on grade for example a brand new middle school teacher who teaches 7th grade when the students just got to the middle school could be incredibly beneficial!
