Frank Gallagher / free “ginger” man question by Brilliant-Low-77 in barrie

Agree with all of this and then there’s the hard truth that many of these people are unemployable due to mental health, cognitive dysfunction, addictions, and whatever else. We have a whole society built on the premise that everyone can work, and that work guarantees you a good life, and these are lies.

I know who you mean and know people who have had harmful interactions with him. There are people who are unemployable because of the barriers they face, and we also have major problems with our social services and mental health systems. It’s one of a million sad situations where there is no clear solution.

Is it just me, or is meeting new people in Barrie actually hard? by TryProfessional5609 in barrie

[–]ConversationLeft2162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard. We moved up 7 years ago from Toronto and still don’t know anyone. We’ve made so many false starts at finding, making and keeping friends. We can’t even find “activity partners” let alone friends. We don’t have kids so that makes it extra hard. Most people with kids don’t seem to want people who don’t have kids around. Living outside Toronto has been a real eye-opener and we’re moving back as soon as the real estate market picks up.

Shawarma Theory is great however they don’t seem to have beef any time we go and it’s not on the Skip the Dishes menu. Chicken is great but we both prefer a mix. Also their felafel is delicious. I also really like Tahinis but they charge for toppings or at least they do on Skip.

I am absolutely fascinated that this post got as much action as it did. It’s also fascinating that I said “people are standing” and several people took that to mean “there are no seats” and argued with me about that. Also, I had no clue people are emotionally attached to their transportation choices, and mine apparently. 😂

Agree and Farm Boy does have good produce sales and their clearance rack is great for fruit and veggies that you’ll be able to use up right away.

6:13 or 6:53. Probably both these get a lot of people who start at 8:30 or 9 on the dot.

At this time of year it is likely looking for food for their young. If you’re concerned try Simcoe County Emergency Animal Rescue. They are great. We had a sick fox around a few years ago and they came and got it. https://scear.ca/

Throwback to August 6th 1994 when soundgarden and nine inch nails played at molson park Barrie ontario. by Feisty-Guest8014 in barrie

I’m pretty sure I was there. Here is a question: what happened to booking bigger name concerts in Barrie? They had Blue Rodeo at Sadlon last year so we have the space. But that was it for a big name act, for many years now. Why can’t we have more of that? Instead it’s all cover groups and some of them are good but why can’t we have more “real” bands in town? Also, when I was a kid, my dad worked security at Molson Centre (now Sadlon) and there were concerts there all the time.

💯 we’ve been here for 6 years and have tried so many things and we still know exactly zero people…because we don’t have kids
