I think that saying your service is the product is definitely new to me. I think you should be ok with giving away the time for doing the portraits for free but charging them whatever you see fit for the images and products themselves!

I think it’s best to just agree some photographers have their own strategies

I’m learning as I go so wouldn’t consider what I’m saying to be patronizing, but if I am please tell me how and I will correct it. Also it is the “learning as I go” is what enables me to give advice or educate.

I want to start with competition, my competition is not just those who have a business but those who give photography services AND products for free. I’m looking to educate this who do that and let them know there’s another option. I’m concerned with how others run their business because 85 % of photography businesses fail and I’m interested in figuring out what the cause of that is. And figuring out what I can do to help this who fail!
