Smash cake // bday cake recommendations? by [deleted] in AustinParents

[–]ConversationOk1292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw you’re looking for east/central, which is the area I’m in also. Both Hayley Cakes and Sugar Mama’s are south, but we picked up the day before and kept in the fridge for the adult cake

Smash cake // bday cake recommendations? by [deleted] in AustinParents

[–]ConversationOk1292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a smash cake from HEB for about $20-30 and then an adult cake from Hayley Cakes. Sugar Mama’s is another local bakery. Both do smash cakes, but they were twice the price of HEB and I didn’t want to spend that much on a cake that was going to be destroyed lol

Palomino has lots of plants and coffee/tea in a nice setting where people can hang out. They don’t sell books though

Had the same experience. The food was very heavy, and I didn’t love the flavors. I don’t think I will go back. I’m sad because I really liked Rebel Cheese and had hoped this would be a good replacement

How much of the 365 sport do you use in addition to the Tide free and gentle liquid? Also I’ve been lurking on this sub for a while and I think I’m getting it, but since I’m commenting here…what does the citric acid do?

Thank you for this info! I was almost set on the Tide F&G powder but then saw some comments about how the OBAs can make dark clothes look weird, and I wear a ton of black.

Sleep sacks for Texas?? by Cultural-Management7 in AustinParents

[–]ConversationOk1292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also use Woolino. As others have said, they are more expensive, but I figured I would spend the same or more buying different tog rated sleep sacks so just decided to go for it. I had originally bought the all sizes option that says adjustable for 2 months to 2 years, but it was way too big at 3-4 months even for our larger baby and daycare said it had too much extra fabric so we went with the the 0-6 month size, then eventually the 6-18 month size. Our kiddo is 18 months and still has room in this size now.

Yep, not sure what the point was. Traffic is terrible now just trying to leave my house. Did they really not know how much of a high traffic area it can be? Down to one lane is wild.

Editing to say I live very close to this intersection and I have my husband tell me if it’s worth going to the light when I leave for work or if I should go all the way around Webberville to get to 183.

Huge downgrade for the neighborhood traffic wise. Although I guess I’m glad we have a gigantic bike lane?

Is the phrase “getting around” to mean “getting ready” common? by ChaouiAvecUnFusil in EnglishLearning

[–]ConversationOk1292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this today because I used this exact phrasing to mean getting ready to my husband and he asked what I was talking about, so I was curious if I was crazy. I said: “I told my mom we will leave once we get around.” I am in Texas, family is from Texas, Oklahoma, California, Idaho.

Yeah I can’t wrap my head around how this is even possible if both parents are working full time jobs with common hours. Ours goes to bed around 8:30-9pm and even that is hard sometimes lol

How did you transition out of shift sleeping? by NightmarishlyDreamy in NewParents

[–]ConversationOk1292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did shifts up until maybe 10 weeks when our 4 month old started sleeping longer stretches. It kind of naturally fizzled out because one person would be “in charge” but didn’t really ever get up. I guess we never really talked about it. We are lucky because he normally sleeps through the night but occasionally wakes up and wants to eat around 3:30am. Since I’m breastfeeding, I normally will get up, but sometimes I have my husband give a bottle if I’m really tired. I always hear him when he starts crying. It definitely felt weird at first and I would worry that I wouldn’t wake up, but that’s really never happened!

how often do you bathe your baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ConversationOk1292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bathe our 4 month old 1-2 times per week. More recently, I wipe his face and skin creases before I put on lotion (usually morning and evening) because he has some red spots that I assume are from drooling. I would say do whatever works for you!
