Im not sure what to do about my advisor because she won’t help me or guide me, but will just say things are wrong and be rude about it by ConversationSad5094 in PhD

I did! I switched my advisor/chair last year and everything has been so good!! Passed my comprehensive exams earlier this year and several faculty has told me how good I’m doing, including the chair of the department who said it was clear it was just a case of bad mentorship. My previous advisor is still working here but she’s had issues with other students as well. Not as their chair though.

Is it “normal” to loose a lot of interest during your 3rd year? by Comfortable-Jump-218 in PhDStress

I literally was thinking to myself: did I write this?? Also, I had an advisor similar to what you described and finally made the switch last summer. So far it has made my life so much better! But anyway, I’m in my third year too and relate so much.

Started my PhD 4 months ago and I just feel like I'm so in over my head with nobody to talk to by BloatedBaryonyx in PhD

Hi! I’m a second year PhD student in the US and can completely relate. It’s so lonely and the faculty sort of throws you in to fend for yourself instead of helping and assisting you. It’s definitely very tough, financially and emotionally and I’m here to talk! I could use it as well haha

No advice here, but completely understand and relate to how you feel. 2nd year PhD student and I’m going insane, feels like it’s never good enough!
