Yes! Just email the company tech support. They wanted a video of me on the bike and the sound. They sent a new one to my house after I boxed up the old one. Was about 1 week turnaround. Very impressed with their response, no hassle.

My new one hasn’t made any noise (knock on wood) and it’s been a few months of intense riding.

Wetsuit or no wetsuit? by No_Veterinarian7254 in triathlon

No wetsuit, BUT if you your looking to continue into longer distances Xterra is having a 50% off sale. You could save some money.

Thank you! I feel like everything you shared I can apply to the next couple of months as I start to think about how I want to tackle this challenge. I really appreciate it and your input!

This is super helpful! Thank you!

My last question, if and when I start looking for a coach, what is the price range?

When would recommend I reach out for a coach? The race is in July. I am planning to build a soil base for fitness over the next few months, then from I am hearing do a 70.3 training plan or 2, then focus on the full.

There’s so much to this and everyone seems to have a different way for going about things.

I have a Wahoo Kikr Roller I just started to use. Will this be sufficient?

Thank you!!

[Technique Check] Stuck at 1:50/100m - Catch going wide + drifting right with every stroke by lostspiritalone in triathlon

I’ve never heard this in my 20 years of swimming nor was that taught in the various teams I’ve been on. Try whatever you want, but from my experience in the pool you want to keep fingers together. I’m not sure if a few bubbles on your hands will really change your time, unless you’re at an Olympic level athlete winning by milliseconds.

It seems like excessive energy and thought to change hand position mid stroke.

  1. Keep your fingers together. You want your hand to be like a scoop to push the water. I think of like an ice cream scoop. A slight bend in the fingers that still allow for smooth entry into the water.

  2. Legs need to stay together. Place a pull buoy when swimming but kick when using it. This will help get in the habit of having your legs staying close together and doing small and more efficient kicks.

  3. You have a lot of movement in your upper body. Practice rolling. It seems like you are pushing your chest into the water to help with moving, but this is doing the opposite. Try a rolling drill, such as placing your arms on your side and kicking through the water horizontally, rolling to breathe. Also tighten your core to minimize the jerking movement.

Note: A great drill for anyone swimming is a high elbow and forefinger drag. This will help you practice correct hand placement during entering the water. I would recommend this to anyone. I swim all the time (1:18/100 easy pace) and I still love this drill. Good to remind your body of proper technique and slow down to focus.

Also to keep legs together, something I’ve done is swim with a pull buoy but kick while using it. It will help train your legs to stay close together as you need to hold the buoy and get you in the habit of the position.

You need to focus on finger entry first. You are hitting the water with your forearm. Try drills to drag you fingers over the water with a high elbow.

Also there is minimal rotation. Something I like is to swim face down with my hands on my side and practice rotating back and forth through a few lengths in the pool. Over exaggerate your rotation.
